I wasn't going to write a review given that they are a small restaurant and I know how it impacts a business these kind of reviews but... one day later, realizing what it really takes to fix a dish, I am compelled to share.
First, I love the waitress. She was very nice and always smiley.
We got to chatting for a bit and somewhat in the conversation, while ordering she asked me if I liked spicy food to which I said yes, being from Peru, I am accustomed to spicy food.
I like spicy but not the kind that I can't taste anything else.
Then she asked what level of spicy we liked (we were a party of 3) and said medium.
We order a thom ka, which was good. Then papaya salad, to me it was meh. Then we order 4 entrees. 3 of them (pineapple rice, drunken noodles, and pad thai) are dishes we order in very single thai place we go.
When we got our plates I couldn't eat the two entrees I had ordered. I couldn't even had a full spoon of food. It was way too spicy.
When my husband asked kindly if we could have one of the dishes redone because I couldnt eat it, she said, no unless we paid for that dish.
She said, this was authentic Thai, which I guess meant, super super hot.
I couldn't understand why she wouldnt explain before hand that it was super hot until my husband said she assumed when I said I liked spicy food.
I was extremely disappointed especially because I had order two entrees and couldnt eat even a spoonful of one.
When we got home, I added lemon juice to see if that would tone it down and nothing.
My partner washed it with water and it dropped down the heat.
The next day I decided to look up a pad thai and drunken noodle recipe and with what we had I decided to fix it.
I am pretty good cook and guess what? I did.
It took me but 20 minutes counting I gather all the ingredients and it was delicious, nothing like what it was served.
Then I realized than not only what they served was inedible but the pad thai had literally only noodles chicken and a badly done scrambled egg. nothing else.
That dish cost them at worse $8. Had they fixed it, or replaced it that is what it would have gone out, however they would have gotten us as clients for months and months.
That is $1200 we would have spend in this restaurant during a year had they served us food that 1. we could eat 2. accommodate us 3. a dish that had more then meat and noodles .
Anyways. For anyone reading...
Read moreTo start, I've been a huge fan of J's noodles. I've always praised the place but however today I was dumbfounded by the service and that praise has ended. To sum it up, I called for a pickup. I was immediately put on hold (no big deal as that happens) but I was left there for 10 mins. I finally hung up. The phone was then busy for another 5 mins. At this point I assume they walked off and forgot. I've had it before (not here but other places) and no big deal here too. I figure it's fair to make a comment about the experience to them. The response was cold and basically "It happens". At first, nothing along the lines of a simple, I apologize or it was a mistake. I was just rushed further to get my order through. She was rushing and talking so fast that I could barely understand her and she wasn't taking the time to understand me. In the middle of talking, she hands the phone to someone else, cutting me off. At this point I'm a bit frustrated. This lady rushes me to order as well. I ask why the customer service had turned so bad. The individual explains they are understaffed because the father was not there and then tells me she is just a customer trying to help. I think, that's nice, but a customer? I'm now 20 mins into just trying to get a simple order. I finally decide not to order and most likely will never again. Why you ask? Two other (recent) times I had ordered and they were rushed. The food was absolutely horrid those times and honestly wasn't even close to worth the money. Apparently they get so busy anymore that the quality and service has declined. One is not sure what they will get. It's really too bad because I also always enjoyed the demeanor of the mother and daughter when I picked up. They were so sweet and kind. It seems the days of outstanding food and good customer service at J's are gone. Luckily it's Denver and there are other great places as well. They may not have as good of food but I'd rather have consistent quality customer service. I'll still at least have great memories of how amazing the food...
Read moreHands down my go-to Thai restaurant. It’s my absolute favorite. I just adore the owners and their daughter. I’ve never once had a bad experience ordering from here. I found this sweet little family owned restaurant about 4 or 5 years ago when I moved to this area. I had been searching for good pad thai, similar to what I was used to from a cart vendor living downtown and I found it here! I’ve never dined in, always take out but their service is ALWAYS fast, food is guaranteed to be hot off the stove, and so so delicious and flavorful. Usually ready in 10-15 mins. The rangoons and new Thai egg rolls are a must for me, and I love their chicken pad Thai, medium spice w/ fresh noodles. Every time I go in and the Mom is working the counter she is always so kind and genuine, always compliments me on my nails or this most recent time my new glasses. Their daughter is super sweet too. I haven’t had a lot of interactions with the dad, but he’s friendly. This place is worth a visit! They started accepting dine-in again recently, but their to-go service is exceptional. Fast service,...
