Sadly, I was fooled by the 4 star rating for this place, for both service and quality of food.
The prices are great, don't get me wrong--but I've had equally affordable Mediterranean/Middle Eastern food in the area that was much higher quality.
Let's start with my experience ordering: this restaurant offers ordering through Yelp/Eat24, but I have never had a poorer experience using the service. I ordered pickup, so I could expedite the process of getting food to take out, but it didn't turn out that way. Yelp/Eat24 contacted me and my partner 15 minutes after ordering to tell us that the restaurant was not responding to their phone calls and e-mails (how they, apparently, generally communicate orders with businesses). Instead of cancelling the order--we still wanted good food!--we told them we'd attempt to contact them, and drive over to see what was up.
Just like they had told us, Gyros & Kabobs was not answering their phone, but not because they simply weren't picking up. They hadn't paid their phone bill, resulting in an automated message saying the number wasn't in service; extremely unprofessional. We drove over, to see if they'd somehow received our order online--no luck. They blamed it on Eat24, saying, "They usually call or e-mail us when someone orders! We can't know if they don't contact us," and when we said we'd tried (several times) to call them too, they had no explanation.
To their credit, the owner was extremely nice and apologetic, and made our food immediately after we showed him the confirmation that we'd paid. He did not, however, offer anything complimentary to make up for our lost time, despite the fact that the missing order was entirely their fault.
On to the food: definitely not 4-star. The meat in my gyro had good flavor, but there was nowhere near enough of it. Like I said above, I've been to many restaurants with similar fare, and their sandwiches/pitas/wraps are always stuffed with meat. Their gyro was mostly lettuce and sauces--I literally had to spread out the meat into tiny pieces to make sure I got some with every bite. And the fries? Totally boring with only a little chili powder on them (no discernible salt), and lukewarm.
If there was more meat in my sandwich, and I didn't waste almost a whole hour trying to get my food, I might have given this place a better...
Read moreThe food was not bad but customer service was reallybad . I was placing order my son switched from cheese burger to chicken gyro , the order was to go . The receipt said for here , I went back and fixed it , then I realized the order was taken for both burger and gyro. I approached the cashier at the desk , she told me she repeated the order multiple times ( she didn't , she said very fast one time and we are tourists visiting for the first time and it was hard to understand ) . I told her not to worry and also ordered the chicken my younger son wanted . The problem is: this restaurant has chatty girls taking orders and not interested in listening to customers and blaming the customer for wrong order. Girls were too chatty , too abrupt and not interested With customers and blamed the customer for the wrong order. I am not happy not because I had to pay for the extra order but because I was being blamed for wrong ordered and the girl gave me the looks of not listening to her when she repeated multiple times ( she didn't , even my teenage son told the same and said she was too busy with other girls to listen to me) .
Response to owner: Most business would apologize when a customer lets you know they had a bad experience and try to make it right . But you have basically confirmed my concern about bad customer service . I have posted copy of receipt that confirms I has there 38 minutes before closing . Most family owned businesses put customer first and many make it right if they get the order wrong . At least you accepted you are chatty and that means you were not paying attention . It is your job to pay attention when taking order and get it right ( because it is your job) . As a customer who is actually paying we expect good customer service and you have failed miserably . You were talking about every thing but closing of restaurant . My concern was your attitude and behavior in presence of and towards customers. You were Very unprofessional. I was hoping some one with cooler head can respond and address my concern , so I can delete the negative review . But now I am even more disappointed. I shouldn’t have visited your restaurant as it spoiled a part of my vacation experience. You can check there are other with same...
Read moreI come a here 2-3:times a month, I have noticed over the last 3 years Monday and Tuesdays, the food is downright unpleasant. To be honest, the women hold that place together, but they don't work Monday or Tuesday. Once again, on the this Monday, food was bad.. They overcooked, messed up orders, people waiting forever. Telling you, if don't see a woman or two, walk out . It is s awesome, when it's just not a group of very unorganized men. Today was worse a than a training day, and they've been there for years. Avoid Mondays and Tuesdays. Trust me .. besides, now a gyro is $8, just for the Gyro. They increased priced by $3 a gyro. And not good anymore, think they even use Costco gyro meat, $8 for a gyro, they cut back on the meat and just tons of lettuce. All good things do come to a end.
Update: 1/5/22:, They will charge you more for credit card charges now. As many of us regulars have supported them, and always have, will now say-, they're actually getting greedy. The last 3 visits, over charged me every time ,$28 for 2 gyros. Was corrected, but be cautious, 3 times in 4 weeks, beyond a mishap after second time. Also finding the restaurant is pretty filthy now, very unorganized, messing up lots of orders. Very apparent, while waiting in line to pick up orders. Think I'll be taking a break for a few months. Also notice, 80% of all food now, coming in frozen, prepacked, even a basic cucumber sauce. Unsure what's going on, but hasn't been...
