A Culinary Gem in Denver-Aurora: Masala Restaurant
If you are thinking of a purely vegetarian dining experience in Denver Aurora, then do not forget a visit to Masala Restaurant. It offers a delicious menu full of Indian cuisine that caters to every palate and taste bud, being the only pure vegetarian restaurant in that area.
Recently, I visited this quaint place, and the quality of food and the experience were really pleasing. What works best for them are the special nights. Monday evenings with unlimited chaat and Wednesday nights being unlimited dosa night are indeed pleasurable treats to your senses with variety, authentic, and satiating flavors.
Fresh, full of flavor, and bursting with just the right amount of spiciness, the chaat is matched by crispy, savory dosas served with a whole variety of chutneys and sambar that bind everything. The chefs at Masala Restaurant put much love into their cookery.
Be it vegetarian or an out-and-out Indian cuisine lover, Masala Restaurant is the place to be. The food was great, the atmosphere warm and cordial, and the service much to our liking. I would totally suggest trying it out, especially on any special nights...
Read moreUPDATE - there must be new owners. Was there for lunch buffet recently. My wife ordered off the menu and it took OVER TWO HOURS to get palak paneer - among the most common dishes at indian restaurants. The waitress was rude and inattentive. It took about an hour for them to fill the idly tray on the buffet. Worst restaurant experience - ever. Would give zero stars if I could. ALSO - beware, when I was last here there were far fewer reviews. I strongly suspect bogus positive posts. AVOID!!!! Original post below - sad the place has crumbled.
Original post here - see above for update - LOVE love love Masalaa. This place is the best Indian in the Denver area bar none. Looking for tamed-down, Americanized Indian? This will not be your place. You must want rich, vibrant flavors to enjoy this place and no - that doesn't mean everything is super-hot.
I lived in Denver for six years and moved to Phoenix. There is no Indian restaurant nearly as good here or there. I visited last week for the first time in nearly 5 years and it is the same cook and same if not...
Read moreI recently dined at Masalaa in Aurora, CO, and unfortunately, my experience was rather disappointing. I ordered two different types of Indian bread, roti and phulka, but there was no discernible difference between them, apart from some extra oil on the phulka.
Additionally, we ordered two entrees, Veg Korma and Veg Chettinadu. We were assured that the gravies for these dishes were distinct, but upon being served, we found that both entrees were identical in taste and appearance. This lack of variety left us underwhelmed.
On a positive note, the rice and sambhar were well-prepared and flavorful. However, the plate size provided was inadequate for the meal. It was difficult to fit one Indian bread and both entrees on the plate, leading to an unintended mixing of the already identical gravies.
In conclusion, Masalaa has potential, but our experience was marred by the repetitive nature of the dishes and the impractical plate size. I hope the restaurant takes this feedback into account and makes the necessary improvements to offer a more enjoyable...
