I ordered from here twice, and both times it was very disappointing.

The first time, I asked for no onions, no jalapenos, no olives, but they still sent everything with those. I thought maybe it was a mistake, so I gave them a second chance.

The second time I ordered the combo (2 wraps, 2 drinks, 2 desserts). Before ordering, I called the restaurant and explained that I don’t drink soda. The manager suggested replacing drinks with 4–5 pieces of baklava instead. I agreed and then placed my order. In the end, they still sent me 2 sodas, only 2 pieces of baklava, and very small wraps.

The wraps were mostly bread, maybe 60% lavash, with very little meat inside. It was so dry that I had to use Chick-fil-A sauce just to finish it. The chicken itself tasted okay and seemed fresh, but the portion was tiny.

Usually shawarma is supposed to be big, juicy, and filling. This one was very dry, mostly bread, and I was still hungry after finishing the whole wrap. A proper shawarma should have more meat, fresh veggies, at least some greens. Even if you just google “shawarma,” you’ll see there should be vegetables and greens inside, but here was none.

And the biggest problem: the food looks NOTHING like the photos online. The menu shows a big, meaty wrap (see screenshot), but in reality it’s mostly bread with barely any filling. Doesn’t matter if it’s chicken or beef - it’s the same issue.

Overall: small portions, dry wraps, promises not kept, and very...

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Abu Omar Restaurant for the first time, and I must say, my experience was nothing short of exceptional. The highlight of my visit was the outstanding service provided by Abdullah, who went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect.

From the moment I arrived, Abdullah’s warm welcome and professionalism stood out. He was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about delivering a memorable dining experience. Every detail was handled with care, and his recommendations were spot on.

The food was absolutely delicious — fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Each dish reflected the authenticity and quality that Abu Omar Restaurant is known for. It was clear that Abdullah takes pride in his work, and his dedication is reflected in every aspect of the service.

If you’re looking for a place where hospitality meets culinary excellence, Abu Omar Restaurant is the spot. And if you’re lucky enough to be served by Abdullah, expect an experience that will exceed your expectations. He truly embodies what it means to provide five-star service.

Thank you, Abdullah, for making my first visit unforgettable. I will definitely be back!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ — Highly...

I’m super sad to post something negative about this place, but I have had it. Last five times that I have been here they screw something up either forget the ketchup for my fries they cut the sandwich when I asked them not to they don’t answer the phone try calling for 20 minutes. Tonight I asked for a falafel Arabi with fries and a side of rice, the Nigerian cook explain to me that they don’t sell sides of rice. Which caught me by surprise since I have purchased sides of rice at least 20 times in the past. SoHe said what I understood as an option of falafel arabi over rice and a side of fries, well after a 20 minute wait I got for falafel pieces over rice and a side of fries, super upsetting and dissatisfying. Hopefully I can find food that is comparable with much better customer service. I hate to go somewhere and spend my hard earned money to not get what I asked for...

i go to abu omar at least once a week. the service is always friendly even as faces have changed over the past 3 years i’ve lived next to them. the food is always delicious though the fries have changed at least 4 times, i assume due to supply. i usually get a chicken arabi though i have tried nearly everything on the menu. the portions are always generous and the white sauce is delicious. the chicken arabi i ordered below comes with fries, pickled vegetables, and white sauce. you can’t see any of it due to the very generous portion of fries he gave me.

I tried the Tampa, FL location and it was a great experience! The food was delicious, and the service was quick and friendly. Definitely a place I’d come back to 👌🏼. Unfortunately, the experience at the Austin, TX location was the complete opposite. The service was really poor — there was only one guy doing everything: cooking, taking orders, cleaning, and serving. It felt chaotic, super slow, and honestly like customers weren’t a priority at all. Abu Omar is a well-known name, and I hope the Austin branch steps up to match the quality of the others
