I wish I had come here earlier! I've always been a supporter of Pho Please for all the little events they hold throughout the year (free boba, $1 pho), and I knew that Sip Pho has the same owner but I didn't want to transport pho to-go during COVID.
Sip Pho recently re-opened for dine-in, and it's gorgeous inside. From the all-white interior to the little flowers hung on the ceiling, this establishment is well-designed. It looks much classier than your average Asian restaurant and much more like a date spot.
My friend ordered the Waygu Pho. The Waygu didn't have the marbling that I was expecting but it was still pretty good. They're generous with the portion size so that's always a plus. I ordered the Sip Pho, which has every cut of meat. I was able to swap out the tripe for more brisket but I definitely should've also skipped the tendon. The rare steak was actually my favorite! I also REALLY enjoyed the broth. I'm usually not a fan of soups because they take up valuable stomach space, but I actually almost finished the entire bowl of pho - broth and all. It made me feel powerful.. maybe even enough to attempt the Pho Please challenge.
My friend's Waygu Pho cooled down so we asked for an extra bowl of soup in order to cook the meat. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful! I also spoke with the cashier, who sounded like she really enjoyed working there. She specifically mentioned that this was the first role where she knew the owners cared about her. Ya know I'm always down to support a good business.
The boba is also the equivalent of honey to a bee. It's probably one of the best non-franchise boba's I've ever had in my life. It's a drink that you wouldn't know you needed in your life until you order it for the first time. I've gotten the taro and the brown sugar, and both were delicious. Definitely on the sweet side. I tried to savor it but failed - badly.
Overall, definitely my favorite pho spot in Austin now! It's conveniently close to campus and the food is great so it's safe to say I'll...
Read moreThis review is long over due. Sip Pho is hands down my favorite pho place in Austin! Not only is the food phenomenal but their commitment to outstanding customer service is outmatched. They do an awesome job of learning who their regulars are and making folks feel welcome as soon as they walk through their doors. Let me go over some other details that I’m sure you’re interested in:
The food: Their pho is fantastic! I’ve tried many of the different options on their menu and they’re all amazing! The pho comes out quickly and is always perfectly hot and and fresh.
The drinks: Their boba teas are very delicious. My favorite is definitely their brown sugar boba brûlée with cheese foam. It sounds crazy but it’s so so good! Definitely try it if you’re feeling adventurous.
The atmosphere: The interior of Sip Pho is beautifully bright, airy, sophisticated, and modern! I’m particularly obsessed with the tall ceiling and exposed wooden beams. There’s a good variety of tables to choose from that can easily accommodate parties of 10 or more people. They also have a beautiful outdoor patio.
Dine-in experience: Excellent! Tables are always cleared away in a timely manner. Ordering is fast and easy at the front counter. All of their servers are friendly and food always comes out hot, fast, and fresh!
Ordering to-go: While I prefer to dine-in because it’s so pleasant on the inside, occasionally I will order to-go. They’re to-go experience is just as fast, friendly, and efficient as their dine-in experience. They package your order with care and everything you could possibly need to enjoy it at home: microwavable containers, condiments, napkins, utensils - it’s all there!
To wrap this up, Sip Pho is hands down my favorite place to grab a bite to eat after a long day of work. They have such good customer service and the quality of their food is superb. I definitely recommend everyone check them out if you’re in the area. You won’t be...
Read moreNot the best pho in Austin but probably the coolest place to eat pho in Austin.
Price: 2 stars - for $12, this is the most expensive bowl of pho in Austin. UTea Pho is 1 mile away on West Campus with much lower prices.
Broth: 5 stars - wonderfully flavored, clear broth!
Temperature: 2 stars - lukewarm broth when it came out, definitely not hot enough! My rare steak was still medium rare after five minutes, that’s how lukewarm the broth was. I tried to submerge the steak multiple times but it just did not cook. Biggest disappointment about my visit.
Amount of meat: 5 stars - I ordered the rare steak and brisket and there was more than enough to go around.
Amount of noodles: 3.5 stars - definitely could’ve used more noodles. I had to eat about a third of the meat myself because of how a few noodles I had.
I went for lunch on a Tuesday at 11:30 and ordered the beef broth pho with brisket and ribs steak. I love the ambience in the restaurant, such an amazing atmosphere and the decor was minimalistic but beautiful. This place is an order at the counter and choose your own seat type of restaurant. Hoisin sauce, Sriracha and chili paste at every table. Lime wedges, cilantro, jalapeño, red onion bar near the front. They bring out a dish with bean sprouts and herbs just like every other place. I think the two biggest factors for me reading this place three stars is the price and the temperature of the broth. If I’m paying $12 for pho it better be perfect, and this was close but the temperature was wrong and there are not enough noodles in the serving in my opinion. UTea Pho will continue to be my go to pho...
