This year,  we decided to do something a little nontraditional for Thanksgiving and go out for dinner. It was our daughter's recommendation to visit Bob's, and I am very happy and proud to report that we could not have chosen a better place to celebrate the holiday. We actually arrived about 20 minutes early for our reservation, but were shown right to our table.  Although I am sure this isn't the case during a non-holiday weekend during peak hours. Upon first walking in, the dining room seemed extremely dark, but it shouldn't be much of a surprise as it was mid-afternoon when we arrived. However, shortly after being seated, the lighting seemed very natural. Our waiter was warm, friendly and very attentive.  He offered honest, on point answers to every question asked, and was eager to make a recommendation when asked.  He never seemed overly rushed, and took the time to joke and cajole. The menu is an efficient single page, unlike some establishments that have pages and pages of things, trying to have a full menu of steaks,  a whole menu of seafood, menu of pasta, chicken, and Mexican. Bob's menu is simple and complete with a great selection of signature steaks, several appetizer choices, and a few seafood dishes to balance things out. Tuna tartar and fried lobster were chosen as appetizers, and when they arrived, I knew that we were in for something special. The tuna was soft and mild with an extremely fresh taste.  The fried lobster was light and crispy and perfectly breaded, and was served a mild buttery sauce on the side. The wait for our entrees was not too long and everything delivered was finely plated. Waygu medallions with seared scallops,  blackened redfish with risotto, rack of lamb, and a 45-day dry aged steak were our entrees and I simply do not have adequate works to describe the joy experienced in every single bite. Side dished seem to be an afterthought at many places, but not here.nd whatever you do, you simply must have their signature carrot, Moving on to dessert, carrot cake, pumpkin cheesecake, and creme brulee were wonderfully prepared, but I must say everyone at the table was a bit jealous of my bread pudding. When you are looking for your next special evening out, please give Bob's your consideration.  Everything we encountered was top notch and I am confident you will find it so too

Bob's is awesome. Here's why. 1: the atmosphere is cool. Alot of cool things to read about their flags on the wall. 2: our Server (capital S!) was Craig. He is a pure professional. And his service and advice made our evening stupendous. Ask for him, and wait if you need to. 3: the food. Had a family of 4, 2 kids and 2 adults. Had 2 filets, a ribeye and NY strip. All perfectly cooked (please, without talking about it, I know a lot about this) and he had a LED light to make sure I saw my steak in the best light! We devoured them quickly. Having a light to make sure I was satisfied was over the top for me. 4: Craig recommended my meal to me. Asked what I like and DELIVERED. Who needs a menu with that guy?!?! 5: they have a second floor dining room that is open to the outside, lookong over 6th st. Come on! It's an amazing view, atmosphere, and they have a full bar crew there to make it perfect. Ask for Amber up there! Lastly, the restrooms are an experience in cleanliness and aromatic aromas. I actually chilled in there with my son and just rested a moment... Yeah, it's like that. OK, it's is expensive to most people's tastes. I get that. It's easily $125 a person, kids or adults. This was a treat for us, coming from Phoenix for F1 we knew what we were getting into. That being said, it was WORTH EVERY PENNY. Also, the portions are big, so as a couple you can get out of there pretty 'cheap'. That being said, This is an Austin destination. Not just a restaurant. Plus when you walk out, you have the world at your fingertips. 6th St. is a playground! Enjoy and tell Craig, "Matt from AZ sent you!"

Made reservation in OpenTable for 8pm on a Friday. We were seated right away. As soon as we got to the table we ordered a few drinks from the bar. The drinks took over 30 minutes to get to us :( Then we ordered the appetizers which also took about 20-30 minutes to get to our table. The scallops were really tender and tasty. The calamari was also crispy and cooked to perfection. For the main course, we ordered the steak and lobster. The waitress recommend the fried lobster over the grilled, which seemed strange due to the fact we ordered calamari for the first course (so we already ate something fried that evening). The filet minion was cooked to perfection and extremely tender, that was the best part of the meal! Also ordered the lobster Mac and cheese which was amazing with a strong taste of Gruyère. The entire dining experience took about 2 hours in total. The food was good, maybe exceptional, but the amount of time we waited for everything was not worth it. You are paying the big bucks to eat here for a reason :(

NOT IMPRESSED! I was not impressed by this establishment. I will note that the setting of the restaurant and the hostess were very upscale! I attended with seven of my colleagues so our combined bills were roughly around $800. In this type of restaurant I believe service is everything! My personal experience wasn't very good at all. To start off the water waiter refilled two of my colleagues drinks with water instead of the original beverage they ordered, my coworker had told him, he chuckled and walked away as if he was joking. The second situation was when they brought our food out they had no idea who ordered what and started handing out food to the wrong people until we all started speaking up. Furthermore, my steak was extremely well done; I ordered it medium. This happened to two of my other colleagues but they didn't want to return the food, I did. The second time I received my steak it was blue rare; the manager agreed and offered to put it back on for another minute but I kindly declined seeing as my colleagues were already halfway done with their meals. The manager was very cordial and offered me some of the best lobster bisque I have ever had and I would highly recommend it to anyone. We ordered desert and the exact same thing happened; when it arrived the server had no idea who ordered what and just started putting plates down. After finishing desert we were ready for our bill, someone asked for it to be separate and the waiter almost threw a fit! He immediately said "You should have told me in the beginning before ordering" my coworker responded, "you should have asked" his lips puckered up and he immediately walked off. He should have verified everyone's order because when he brought it back he had made mistakes with three of my colleagues bills; He explained to them that they just needed to pay each other to fix the mistakes. Two of them agreed but one of them had to convince him to remove something that was not his and I'm pretty sure was just a over charge. With this particular situation I believe describes our entire dinner, the waiter was willing to inconvenience us rather than doing his job and fixing the receipts. Despite all of this I had a very enjoyable time with my colleagues; we laughed everything off and had great conversation. This was a very disappointing experience and not at all worth the money it costs. We were told this is the best place to get a steak in the Austin and it ended up falling well below par. I will be reviewing this restaurant on multiple sites and I'm open for managerial staff to contact me and inquire more about our experience in their...

From the time we arrived the valet guys were rude. They requested my friend and I leave a minimum of a two dollar tip. That made both of us feel uncomfortable. We were not greeted by the hostess when we walked in and when they sat us they sat us in a booth for two when we were in a party of four. The bus guy didn't even acknowledge us or ask us if we needed water. What the heck?

Also, our waiter was nowhere to be found for at least 15 minutes and then made the excuse that he, "was busy with another table."

When my party ordered drinks there was a piece of paper from an orange peel left in my drink and guck at the bottom of the glass they served it in. Luckily they replaced. Not long after that our waiter was replaced with someone else not on request by the way. It was very confusing. However the food was "OK," but our service was not good at all. We were asked to clean up after our table on our own. We had multiple waiters who did not know what was going on with our orders.

The service we received was very unacceptable and it was not an overall good experience. When we received the check we paid and waited around for about an additional 20 minutes while we finished our drinks however we were brought an additional receipt explaining that they forgot to charge us for additional items and requested that we pay on behalf of this mistake that they made. We paid but it was very rude to request additional payment after the bill was already accepted and completed. As we were leaving the manager on duty did not acknowledge our situation or attempt to apologize about the inconvenience of it all, but made an insult at my friend for the size of his clothing?!?! This was just very poor customer service.

I spent $500 on dinner here and received better service at Taco Bell and Panda Express. I highly recommend dining...
