Unbelievable we had been going to this place for over five years and it has been our go to for asian food sense we moved south. Always the same quality food at an affordable price. By far the best restaurant of its type in all of south Austin. And this happened. They changed the way they are preparing the food. And not for the better. I was shock to discover that they are using jalapeños inside of their general Tao dish. Not exactly the right taste if you know what I mean.. There wasn’t any hot or sour in the soup, and the egg drop was just completely gross and bland, missing all the flavor that used to have. it’s almost as if they’ve taken the inexpensive route to prepare the food Yet, the food cost more. We were completely 100% team china hill. Now we call it China going downhill. We for one will not be going back to it and I’m pretty sure that others are going to follow suit. You cannot just change your recipes and expect to have the people OK with that. Such a shame because it was a really good restaurant.
(Reply) I called up there and your employees told me you changed the recipe on a lot of your dishes. Under new management.. Look this place has been the number 1 Asian cuisine restaurant in south Austin for as long as I can remember. Excellent service and taste that was un matched. Trust me I know, we happen to eat out a lot more than we should but this makes us somewhat experienced in this category. You can not go changing the recipe and think that people are gonna be ok with that. Jalapeños do not belong in general Taos chicken. Please change it back and I will change my review and we will...
Read moreI'll admit that I cannot rate this place on the decor, I've never been here. I have only ordered delivery from this restaurant, but I can say this: It is totally worth it!
I used to have my usual Chinese when I lived off of Metric, but once moving down south that wasn't an option anymore. Shortly after moving down here I randomly got a flyer on the door for here and a few other places around. I've tried most of them and concluded that I'd never get the quality I was used to up north. Then I tried this place and immediately fell in love! And even better, though we live on the other side of I-35, they still deliver here.
Though I've tried a few of their dishes, all good btw, my tried and true for here is the tofu mixed veggies and the kung pao tofu. So delicious! I've now been ordering from here for just over a year and each time I try to get something new and explore. Always good, always so filling and enough for the next day's meal.
You have to try this place!
Ps: Though I love this place, I have read a few times that some people have actually gone to the location and don't like the look of the place. This doesn't phase me, I'll just have them...
Read moreNo taste. First and last time to order. It’s the worst experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant, even worse than fast food. They have a sign on the door saying everything will be served in plastic containers. The cashier said the same thing. I thought they’re just cheap. Then the menus are all at the cashier place. We had to order right away right there. Now I know they are lazy. It was so awkward to look at the big menu and decide. We ordered and waited. It was fast. When we got home, every single dish had no taste. I don’t understand how could they do such a bad job even with soy sauce. My husband threw up right away after taking a bite of the sesame chicken cause there was no taste. My seafood plate, the scallop and crab tasted not cooked. The scallop texture was too soft. We both had weird sick feelings after taking several bites. What a waste of food and money. How can someone cook such bad food and doing a business? Adding this review hopefully to show the true rating....
