Iām betting population south of the river knows just what a gem they have in Westgate Lanes. Iāve always lived and worked north of the river so I had never been here...that is until today. We were invited too a gathering by extended family here at Westgate Lanes. It was worth the trip and frankly I wish Iād frequented it long ago! There are a plethora of bowling lanes, and of coarse automated pin count that displays above the lane you are using. There is a very unique rainbow š of different candies that can be dispensed via a large horizontal machine with several large tubes that contain the kind of candies youād find in the mallās candy store. I have never seen anything like this in a bowling alley or anywhere else for that matter! Itās definitely an eye catcher for children and adults alike! This Bowling Alley is well-maintained. Every alley was working and it was very busy on a Sunday with lots of friends and families getting together to have some fun. Lebowskiās Grill as well as a full bar is on the premises. Iāve not had such great tasting food at a bowling alley in over 30 yearsāI enjoyed it so much I would definitely recommend it and would consider stopping in even if I didnāt plan to bowl. Our group had a variety of items and there were no complaints to be found. It was hard to choose but we decided that the Mushroom Burger š and the French Fries left indelible impressions. The burger was ample-covered the entire bun and thick enough for the flavor of flat top seared beef came through despite the yummy mushrooms and the melted cheese that completely covered the burger. The bun? Brioche......yum! Came dressed with lettuce and tomato and the usual suspects-mayo, mustard, ketchup could be added to suit your taste. Sounds simple but yet itās so tasty š Drop by...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe came to Austin to celebrate my parents 45 anniversary. We decided to go bowling last minute and found this place. Initially we advised our system was messing up but later found out it was because I kept fouling. However no one told us thatās why until the four time we complained. They also didnāt advised they fixed the issue so we kept waiting while she was eating. So I had to walk over there. As I walk over there she appears annoyed because she is eating and we still need help with the system. As she is walking over the phone rings and she tells me to hold on while she takes the call. At this point I was patient but I was annoyed. She has a full conversation on the phone so the other girl had to come help me and explain what was going on with the system. I let Mary know that was unacceptable customer service and asked her name while she went back to eating her food. Then I go back to bowl and the system is still messing up with no one fouling. All the pins were not coming out but we decided not to complain. The rest of the time bowling I see all the employees huddled up and looking at my family laughing while we are bowling. I go to pay and Mary tried to help I told her I donāt want her help so the other girl helps which was very nice but she also was included in the employees looking and laughing. I do not appreciate the customer service and the unprofessionalism. Never will...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI called ahead of time to double check the pricing, and I specified to the man on the phone that we would be coming after 5pm (the website stated that the prices go up after that).
He quoted me
$3.50 per person per game $3.50 per person for shoe rental
OR
$22 for the lane for an hour $3.50 per person shoe rental
When we arrived and I told the woman at the counter that we wanted to go with the pay by the hour option, she said that they don't offer that option. I told her that I had spoken to someone on the phone who had said that, she said "I don't know who told you that because we never offer that option. She seemed very blunt and almost annoyed about it, and didn't seem to care that we were clearly flustered and stressed out by the change in plans. I would also like to point out that website DID offer paying by the hour as an option, so her statement that they "never do that" was clearly not true.
We decided to stay and bowl anyway, but ended up getting charged $4.10 per person instead of the $3.50 I had been quoted over the phone, so nothing we had been told ended up being honored. At that point, I was too frustrated to argue, so I just paid and we left and are not planning to return.
Also, at least half of the games in the arcade were out of order.
It was an overall stressful and unpleasant experience, though we did have fun for a little while...
