Church's Texas Chicken — Restaurant in Austin

They are lucky they are getting these 2 stars from me, and the ONLY reason they are is because by the time we GOT the food, it was hot and fresh. HOWEVER, the experience getting it was totally horrible. We placed our order at 2:09pm (time on the receipt). While we were sitting and waiting, about 5 minutes in to our wait, I overheard them inform another customer (who was visibly frustrated from their long wait as well) that they were out of macaroni and cheese. Since my husband had ordered Mac and cheese as well, I informed him, and he went up to let them know he would switch to fries. At that point, they didn’t even have our order...they ASKED for it again, so brought up our receipt. At 2:30, I went back up to ask if our order was ready. They had the food sitting in front of the chicken racks, and one of the employees stated that they were out of Mac and cheese and needed to find out what we wanted instead. I informed him that we had already made our change 15 minutes earlier. I was frustrated at the lack of communication, and the 20 minutes it took to even START to see our order, that I said “REALLY?? Jesus...” and went back to the table. My husband witnessed one of the staff members roll her eyes, and then he called her out for it. The manager on duty was apologetic for the situation, but the counter staff was condescending and argumentative. Church’s is hands down our favorite chicken place, but we will never go back...

2 months ago i came here and my order was perfect and delicious today dec 31 2018 i came and the 2 hispanics ppl that took my order the last time were not here instead there was 2 old black ppl a man and a woman and another chunky black woman so this is what happened i went on the drive thru ordered wat i always order family meal extra sides and some jalapenos i usually order my okra as family size and they rung me for a large fine watever and when i got my order the okra was missing i go in thinking they prob had it there but had forgot to put it and the lady(old black lady) starts questioning me about how she was certain she had put it so i go back to my car get the bag of food to show her that its not there and she still insisted she had put it in there when that obviously wasnt the case she gave me dirty looks the whole time i waited for my okra and acted as if i was lying about her putting it in there... my order was almost $40 and i get all the sides i want so if i had wanted extra okra i wouldve gladly paid for it they also forgot to put my order of 5 jalapenos and i didnt notice until i had left but after what happened with the okra im not going back to that location also the chicken tasted stale they should change the oil because it tasted disgusting!! These ppl need to get it together or go home and whoever hired those ppl totally ruined church's for me so thank...

I have been coming here at least once a month for quite some time now. They are following covid protocols and I love the chicken. For the most part they have great service, unfortunately today, I do need to complain about Chandel, an employee at this location. I was sent to go park while I wait for my chicken. I didn’t mind waiting. It did take a while but they informed me it will since they were cooking up the spicy chicken. When Chandel came out to hand out an order for another vehicle, I kindly asked if she knew how much longer it would be. I work in customer service and have been for the past 11 years. I consider myself friendly knowing how people can get in this industry. However, I was expecting Chandel to answer with a “I will check on that” or “it will take a few more minutes” instead she just stares and says “can’t you see that we’re taking orders out, you do see that right?” I found that to be very rude and unprofessional. As much as you’re having a bad day, in this industry, you have to always answer professionally at the least.
