I've been visiting this place since I moved into the apartments next door close to 5 years ago, and I would say overall a 4.5 rate. Shame Google doesn't let you post by the half star increments.
Pastor and Chicharron tacos are my go to!! So delicous. Some of the best flavors I've had in Austin. Not to mention the house made corn tortillas. (only the corn tortillas are home made for the tacos only)
Gorditas are a really nice size for the price, and the half chicken is worth every cent as long as you catch them during prime times, since they are not grilled to order. You do get a large portion of food with the half chicken order.
Tinga tostadas and shrimp cocktail are pretty good. And so are the sopes, the order of 3 for $9 is huge!
I honestly have had a small handfull of disappointments which include: house made tortillas too dry to be flexible enough to fold without ripping, a piece of plastic in my chilaquiles sauce, a pastor taco that was.... well... pretty sure the meat was past it's due date, and a couple of logistical errors with my order.
But I mean, no place is perfect. As mentioned previously, I've been visiting this place for the past 5 years, and on average once per week visit. Overall, nothing has been discouraging enough for me to not go back. Considering the countless amounts of visits and small errors that even the big name restaurants can make, 4.5 is more than fair. Plus the lady that seems to run the establishment in morning/lunch rushes is...
Read moreWent here based on the excellent reviews, but once again, Austinites and the like prove that they don’t know what good food is. It was a little late, but quality is supposed to be quality and the tacos that we were served were terrible at best. The Bean & Cheese Tacos were flavorless, not even salt and pepper. Same with the Barbacoa: Super Dry, Absolutely No Salt, No Flavor and had bits/pieces of unidentifiable debris, along with bone. They just wanted a quick buck and to close-up. Overrated by folks who have never had their tastebuds tantalized by...
Read moreThis was the first stop of day two's (#7) Taco Crawl. We ranked each place on service, taste, and space. I only researched, via G Maps, times businesses are open.
English is okay, service was good, staff was friendly. I got the chorizo and migas tacos. It was busy when we arrived, limited parking and (covered) seating. We were near/on our way to Mueller's Farmer's Market...
If you're in the area for a similar reason I would recommend it. It didn't make our top 5 but is...
