February 10, 2022 around 1am-2am my friend and I experienced the most horrific racism and hate from a Caucasian female bartender with a pointy beak like nose and the door guys that night. I’ve never felt so much racism directly intentionally in my life. This was our first time ever going to this bar and we were excited because of the great reviews and many activities you can do in the bar. The bartender I don’t know her name she refused to give it, the moment we walked in she gave the most disgusting look and said “ what do you want” I instantly felt attacked. We told her and she crossed her arms, forcefully pushed buttons on the screen, slammed our shot glasses down, and told us the order total without looking at us in the opposite direction. I gave her a $20 for 2 shots of tequila and she said it was $18, she slammed the $2 left on the bar counter and I left it there. She let it sit she didn’t even want to take my money which I should have taken back but I didn’t. Tried to show love even though she was showing hate. I thought I was dreaming but I wasn’t. We shrugged it off and went to the dance floor, caucasian men were cool and inviting, the caucasian women were rude, forcefully bumping into us, ugly nasty grimaces. I was so flabbergasted, the hate couldn’t be ignored. I requested a song from the dj and let him know it was my birthday and he said “ cool, I got you” initiated a fist pump. Awesome, right? No, the Dj played Meagan thee stallion for 5 seconds literally than switched back to his 2010 end playlist. I understand it’s a dance club but come on your tracks suck. I was yet again flabbergasted, dishonored. The environment of this club is white women with black men. So if you know you know. Just a nasty low vibrational place and I’m going to contact the owners and write a letter I’ll also be contacting the news. It’s black history month and the amount of hate I experienced is not going unnoticed , I expect them to be fired as the disciplinary action. This is 2022 if you have so much hate stay in the house, if this was my establishment I would not want anyone working for me who doesn’t respect my mission, my business, or my customers. If I could give zero...

Howdy y’all! I don’t normally do reviews for bars but , I had to after the absolutely badass time I had at Greenlight social! I’ve been in Austin for YEARS but for some reason never went to greenlight even though I had been to west 6th before. I had a film premiere last weekend and we needed an after spot, so I suggested west 6th since I remembered it being a mix of younger and slightly older folks , and you can dress up a little bit . We walked past a couple of places but that’s when i saw the big green sign that immediately drew me in. We walked up and the rest of the crew was a bit suspicious, thinking it seemed more like a lounge place than a “dancy” place.

We debated for a bit but that’s when the hero of the night , a doorman named Deuce , (Deufe King I think? ) stepped in and quelled their suspicions . This guy at first glance looked like someone not to be trifled with, like an mma fighter or something, but bro was suuuuuper chill once we started chopping it up. He assured us that there would be plenty of dancing upstairs, and that the djs are always fire and play a good mix of modern hits & throwback jams. He even told us about the secret room but you’ll have to go for yourself to learn more about that hahaha . Anyway he really was the highlight of the night, bc my film buddies all decided to go in after talking to him, and everything was WXACTLY as he described , soooo much dancing going on, the music selection was fire and the whole aesthetic was a vibe. Can’t recommend enough, definitely coming back. Thanks...

  • BEST PLACE TO GET BEAT UP IN AUSTIN * BY AGGRESSIVE BOUNCERS **

First off, plenty of better places with better tasting/priced drinks and more importantly, kinder staff, specifically the bouncers. This seems to be the theme on all these reviews so I'll add what I saw. They definitely look for excuses to be aggressive toward customers. Strangely, they take orders from the lead old white dude instead of acting independently. The younger bouncers were alright until the old guy said jump, then they jump. Watched them shove drunk kids trying to go back for something they left inside after another kid in his party was escorted out for falling asleep inside. We left around this time and while waiting for our ride, cops showed up after they poured a drink on a girl who was drinking on the stairs. I can only imagine what else happened while we were inside for the small amount of time we spent here. If you're younger and planning to be drinking enough to need an uber home please SKIP this place as these bouncers are dangerous and truly look for an excuse. Safe safe and note to owner: please change the culture within your bouncers. It...

I seriously love this place! It’s location, atmosphere, staff…and not to mention the drinks! My go-to used to be the spiked Capri-sun, but now I’m currently obsessed with their Cherry Limeade. They have a nice wrap around patio that has an awesome view of downtown. I like that they also have a smaller bar on the patio, so we never really have trouble getting drinks quickly. The music is always something I can dance to and the staff make this place worth the 5 stars. We never miss a chance to pop into Green Light Social when we’re downtown!

Tried attending during their 7th year anniversary. Has a "dress code" that isn't advertised at the bar itself, website, etc. although many folks who the bouncer let in were very ... not fancily dressed. Seems like race, gender, etc. determines if you are welcome here, sadly. Picture is of the kinda bummy dressed bouncer who was enforcing the nonexistent "dress code" while complimenting non minorities on things like their horn. Not kidding.

Another place I finally visited after being in Austin for over 3 years. Should have gone sooner. There’s usually a line to get in and it’s tight after you get inside, but it’s a good experience with great music and drinks that bring your childhood back. Just be careful not to drink them too quickly because they sure sneak up on you.
