A cool concept, and they just opened so I'm sure they're still figuring out the kinks. I got the Roast Beef and Cheddar and was completely underwhelmed, to the point where I ate less than half of the sandwich. To start, red onions, tomato, and lettuce are a weird choice to put on a beef and cheddar. In my opinion, the lettuce should be removed altogether, and the red onion should be replaced with some grilled onions instead. Second, there was almost no cheddar on the sandwich at all! The roast beef comes pre-sliced from a package, and is frankly too thick. There is apparently horseradish mayo on this sandwich, but the red onions and lettuce completely overruled any other flavors that may have been present. The Siete chips are fine, but another brand would be preferable. More flavors would also be great. There are no pickles on the side with your sandwiches, and the ambiance is kind of meh. Service was quick for me, but one of my friends waited an additional 30 minutes for his food (he also got the beef and cheddar). Several others that ordered after us got their sandwiches before he did. I see what they’re going for on their website, but they miss the mark with the execution of that vibe in real life. I’ll give this place another shot in a few months when they’ve gotten their feet under them and have more stuff figured out, but this was a disappointing lunch for my...
Read morePlaced our food order at 3:15PM after waiting on line for a good 20-30 mins. Was told it would be a 30 min wait for our food. We ordered two sandwiches and a beer. We waited 1h15m for our food. There was only ONE panini press that takes two minutes per sandwich for a shop that sells strictly sandwiches. Not to mention there were very little seating room inside so we had to sit at a table outside with our one year old in the cold. We understand the establishment just opened and have kinks to work out. Our dissatisfaction could have easily been resolved with a manager stopping by to check on us and apologizing, offering some free chips, a beer, any refreshments, a discount on a future visit. Small gestures are better than nothing at all!!! Shortly after us, they posted a sign on the door that they had run out of sandwiches but the last few people who had actually placed an order did not get their food and had to ask for a refund after waiting over an hour. Totally unacceptable. What a...
Read moreHeard good things and finally stopped by—and wow, glad we did. The vibe here is spot-on: relaxed, welcoming, and surrounded by other cool spots that make the whole area worth a visit.
Like many new places, they had a wild Day 1—sounded like huge crowds, long lines, and sold-out food. I guess people were (rightfully) pretty excited about this place opening. No one has a crystal ball, and they’ve clearly grown into themselves since then. What you’ll find now is great service, a team that cares, and a place that feels dialed in.
The sandwiches are legit (highly recommend the roast beef with avocado), and the craft beer selection is excellent. They make some of their own craft that rivals the best in Austin. The American IPA is out of this world. Handsome Dan’s is absolutely worth a visit—we’ll definitely be back...
