Let me start by saying I eat A LOT of Indian food. It was my first time trying this place and I ordered a lot of food so that I could get a good idea of how I like it. I'll definitely never come back. Most of what we ordered was extremely disappointing and some of it was inedible for me. For appetizers, we tried the chicken keema samosas and the chicken 65. The samosas aren't really even samosas, their wrapped in what seem like store-bought wonton wrappers that were soggy. The filling was ok, but pretty bland and too greasy (which just made the soggy texture of the wrapper even more unpleasant). I took 2 bites and couldn't finish it. The chicken 65 is chewy and the chutney doesn't taste very fresh. We got 2 curries, and i was pleased with the amount of meat, but the lamb korma was very runny and bland. The lamb pasand was actually pretty good but nothing to write home about. On top of that, I orderer kashmiri naan, which on their website (and everywhere else I've ever ordered it) is supposed to be with raisins, pistachios, and almonds. Imagine my shock when i bit into it and there was MARASCHINO CHERRY in it and it tasted like coconut. I called them to complain, thinking they accidentally gave me the wrong naan. After talking to the hostess, she said they would call me back. Upon calling back she said the owner was there and wanted to speak with me and she was gonna hand the phone to him. Then... nothing. It sounded like she put the phone on the counter and walked away. I patiently waited a few minutes then hung up and called again. The owner answered right away. He assured me that it was intentional and that the filling is a powder made from sugar, almonds, and coconut with chunks of maraschino cherries (which he tried to say was dried fruit). He said I could come pick up a different naan and I told him that I wanted a refund. He laughed and said they don't have the ability to do partial refunds, so the best he could do was offer us credit on our next order. I told him not to bother since I will definitely...
Read moreFood: everything came out lukewarm. We ordered vegetable samosas to start. The chutneys were as thin as water. The crust was spongy. And the texture of the potato was pasty. Chicken tikka masala was lukewarm Butter chicken had an actual tab of butter that did not melt. Basmati rice was lukewarm with an overcooked texture.
The only thing that came out hot was the naan bread.
Service: we entered the restaurant and were greeted and sat within a couple minutes. That was where the hospitality ended. The person who came to take our order just walked up to the table and stared at us. His son who was around four or 5 years old was screaming at the top of his lungs right next to our table. I assume the person taking our order was his father because he was latched on to his leg.. He did not correct him whatsoever. You could not hear us order over the screams. He was growling and making aggressive eye contact like he was very annoyed we were there taking his family away from him. It was awkward.
The nicest person was the one bringing out our food. He had a warm smile.
Atmosphere. There was one other group in the restaurant besides us. And it was still very loud with the child screaming and I guess the family who runs the place having a conversation right next to our table.
The restaurant did not strike me as it clean. More like straightened.
And because of this I felt sick eating the food. I'll be honest if you are not courteous and if you don't take pride in your service or maintaining a pleasant environment, I do not trust that you know how to handle food.
We ate enough to be polite. Askef for the check and did not take anything to go.
We were offered a couple bags of chocolate almonds with the check. I assume this was a last-ditch effort for a tip. Which is a bit manipulative in my opinion. Just provide pleasant service and Hot food and the...
Read more**Update: This place has permanently lost a customer based on the response below, which was extremely embarrassing to read and it doesn’t even acknowledge my situation. They should be ashamed. If the restaurant takes such great pride in it’s communication as it seems to claim, why did they not answer my questions properly on the phone? Why did they not give me the requested information? I had a 45 minute drive to begin with! The food wasn’t as good as I thought it would be. My recommendation is to go to Bayleaf Indian Restaurant in Round Rock. It is the same food but better tasting and you will get exceptional customer service!
Came to this establishment to celebrate a birthday in our group of 8 on the evening of August 20th and unfortunately did not have a good experience.
The biggest disappointment for me is how the staff never mentioned on the phone that outdoor seating was the only available option when I inquired about reserving a table and wait times. I had asked multiple times but the only response I got was “sir it’s dine in.” No one ever clarified what this meant. We then proceeded to make the nearly 45 minute drive down, only to get told that indoor seating was not available. So we had no choice but to take the outdoor seating. This was extremely uncomfortable given that I had a large group and that it was a hot day. Had this been communicated to me on the phone that I would have to sit outside, I would have taken my group elsewhere. Definetely NOT worth it, especially if you are driving 40+ miles. Also would like to mention that it took a while for the waiter to acknowledge me when I had asked him for something. Our chicken appetizer also came out at the very end after we had finished, covered in some sort of blue color which we did not expect.
Overall, I would try other...
