This was my first experience with Jersey Mike's. We went to the South Park Meadows location which is located on the Slaughter side. We ordered 3 sandwiches, two were gluten free. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They made sure to clean the grill and use separate utensils for the gluten free sandwiches - without being asked! So they are bring trained well about cross-contamination which I was thrilled to see. While they are a bit pricey (approx $9.00 got a regular sized sandwich and $15 got a giant), the quality was worth it. My on My complaint would be the gluten free bread. They use a hoagie roll made by Udi's which is a gf brand I use frequently and enjoy, but Jersey Mikes serves their sandwiches on cold bread and they do the same with the gf bread. As any frequent consumer of gf bread can attest, it's often rather dry if not warmed or grilled, which means it's more crumbly and less satisfying on the palette. It was not bad, just not as good as it could have been. I'm not complaining, though. It's really nice to have a major chain sharing their unique subs with the gf community. We don't always have options for dining out. I'm hoping they'll address the dry bread issue, but I get that gluten eaters are unfamiliar and that this establishment may not have equipment to address this without contamination. Just a heads up! Overall, I still ate my sandwich happily, but I did toss out the bread about halfway through and just ate the yummy filling. They do offer an "in a tub" option as well which allows you to forego the bread entirely if that's more your bag....
Read moreI placed an order through the app to be picked up in store. The receipt says the store received the order at 5:04 PM and it would be ready at 5:18 PM. I walked in at 5:17 and there was no one in the store and asked for an online order.
The guy said he had no idea by my name and asked me "are you sure?" He then looked at the computer and printed out the ticket that had been waiting for 13 minutes now. He says he will get started on it right now. Three people walked in after he says this and just immediately goes to start working on their orders. The manager comes out halfway through this and doesn't acknowledge that I have just been standing there. He starts working on the third guy's order consisting of three giant sandwiches. I asked if he still had my order and then proceeded to wait longer. I was standing around in the store for almost 20 minutes before I got my order. I should point out that these other people hadn't placed orders ahead, they were just walk ins. Oh, I ordered extra meat and didn't get that, either, so out a couple more bucks there, along with my time. Hard to believe this guy just sat there and told me right to my face he would start working on an order that came through 15 minutes ago just to completely ignore...
Read moreGo to any other location but South Park Meadows, this one for some reason runs different. The sandwiches are MUCH smaller. I’d consider it a one-off, but then I’d be very disappointed that they saw how small the giant bread was and they still used it and was comfortable charging the same price. The quality control was just not there and it’s super disappointing. Last thing and this is just a pet peeve. I used to always leave a tip, even small, but have stopped because I have NEVER had my tip acknowledged before, whether it was take-out/dine-in or through the app. I cannot understand why Jersey Mike’s does not require their employees to acknowledge when a customer leaves a tip. Anyway, I won’t be leaving one, so it doesn’t matter, but I thought you should know.
Update: I did speak with someone at the location, they emailed me as a result of the review. She did not offer anything of substance, which makes it even more disappointing, but did tell me that not acknowledging a tip is something they will bring to the employees attention. I thought it was fair to update. I’m not changing the review score, as nothing has changed, but want to be fair to...
