We enjoyed the location of the Westin in the Domain Austin. The hotel looks nice and the staff is friendly. It is very unlikely that we will stay there again because of water issues, food issues, valet issues, and inaction by the staff at every turn. The bath water only came out in a trickle, and taking a shower was almost impossible. One person in our family took a shower, but it took almost 10 minutes to wash off the soap. The water runs OK for brushing your teeth, but after the shower runs for a few minutes the water stops almost completely. The rest of us decided to skip a shower until we got back home. When we reported it to the staff they apologized. That was all they did. If you can't take a shower & the hotel staff decides they aren't even going to try to fix it then the whole stay should be complimentary. Showers are a basic expectation of any hotel stay. We were supposed to have 2 breakfasts included. At the restaurant there was a problem with that, but it was finally resolved. The valet staff was only present during high volume times and no one ever staffed the concierge desk during the whole stay. Before we came down to check out we called for our car to be brought up. At checkout they said the valet was bringing up our car. We waited for 20 minutes and went inside to check. (There were only one or two other guests waiting for valet during this whole time so it is not as if they were busy.) After I checked on our car I was assured that the valet was retrieving it, but we waited another 10 minutes. At that time I noticed a girl (who had been behind the guest services desk during out check out mainly standing around) ran out of the hotel toward the side parking lot. She came back with our car about 1 to 2 minutes later. I tried to had her a tip, but she ignored me and went inside. Obviously something had happened. My wife and I rarely complain at hotels stays or restaurants. Most things that happen are small and accidental. It is obvious this hotel property is poorly managed, and the staff is poorly trained. I also believe many positions are understaffed, and some are having to do extra duties. We will not stay at this Westin property again, but will gladly...

Just got back from a three-night stay at The Westin at The Domain in Austin, and I have mixed feelings. The hotel itself is decent but not amazing, but wow - that location makes up for a lot!
First, the good stuff: you literally can't beat this location. The Domain has everything you could want. I mean everything! High-end shopping (Chanel, Gucci, Louis Vuitton), regular stores (Whole Foods, Macy's), and cool boutiques (Skims, Mejuri, Alo) all within walking distance. We had fun checking out the Museum of Illusions and Punchbowl Social nearby too.
The staff here deserves a special shout-out. Super friendly and helpful! They let us check in early, brought up things we needed right away (like dental kits), and even gave us umbrellas when it started raining. The room service was great too - food came hot and fresh, unlike some hotels where it's lukewarm by the time it reaches you.
Now for the not-so-great parts. The hotel itself feels more like a 3-star than the 4-star it's supposed to be. Our room was okay but had some issues - stained sheet on one bed, worn carpet, and a slight musty smell. We actually had to ask for an extra room cleaning during our stay. The breakfast buffet was pretty disappointing too - we found gnats and moldy bread (yikes!), which was especially frustrating given the price.
On the plus side, the room had nice basics - coffee maker, ice bucket, tea, and the floor had a microwave we could use. The water pressure was good too, which is always a plus!
They have a gym and pool, and they'll even bring exercise equipment to your room (though I didn't try any of these). Parking was easy and plentiful, which was nice.
Bottom line: Would I stay here again? Probably yes, but only because of the amazing location and great service. If you're planning to spend time at The Domain and want convenience, this is your spot. Just don't expect luxury hotel vibes - think of it more as a solid 3-star hotel with an amazing location and really good service.
Oh, and skip the breakfast buffet, but definitely try the...
Read moreAs a Marriott/Bonvoy Loyal Customer I try to always chose one of your locations. The Westin had mixed reviews but chose it for location. Walked up to desk to check in and it was like a bother, asked of a possibility of upgrade (there never is one) had booked a deluxe double room, reminder desk agent about our puppy upon he responded well then I have to change your room to the second floor where all pets go and by the way sign this paper: if we have a complaint we will call you once second complaint tou will get a fine of 200.00 no problem all paper work signed go up to the room open the door KING ROOM we were 3 people NOT GOING TO WORK..Back downstairs to tell DOUG really its a KING room? cant be.. Now we wait till he finds a Manager to approve a different floor, after waiting 10 minutes voila you are so lucky we have moved you to an executive double room(no difference) We go to our room and honestly that room had not been cleaned, there was old coffee in the coffee maker the amenities were half full and we had not been given cups nor coffee. I advised another clerk at the front desk and was told to remind them when we came back...we were also advise there was no daily housekeeping if we needed towels they could provide. We overheard the clerk at the front desk tell another customer we don't do toilettes today. I was lucky to find some Housekeeping Staff on our floor the next morning and commented on our situation: she immediately reported to her Supervisor and our room was cleaned. I understand these are tough times and its hard to hire help: Suggestion: don't book tour hotel to full capacity if you can't take care of your customers. On day of departure I walked up to front desk to get my bill girl on the phone (PERSONAL) telling someone it was her last week there. I waited for a few minutes until I finally got her attention. Your rates are not cheap...bring back the...
