I will most likely not be staying at this property again, but its for reasons that are out of the control of staff and management who I believe are a fantastic team.
Dining: Average
-More variety would be nice.
-There is only one waffle maker, so lines will form there.
-Hot food stayed hot, but the bacon (both American and Canadian) was extremely dried out even at 7:30 am.
-Cold butter bricks. Every brick every morning I was there was ice cold and hard. All it takes is proper planning to ensure that butter is at least room temp before serving, which for me goes a long way especially given how much of the other food served goes with butter (english muffins, various kinds of sliced bread, bagels, waffles).
Location: Poor -There is no direct route to walk to the Domain area. So while shops and dining are just a few hundred feet from your room, you still need to make a 7-8 minute drive to loop back to the Domain shopping area and find parking, or wait for the Shuttle (see Service). -As other reviews have stated, the proximity of this property to the freight train tracks means that certain rooms, especially those facing the tracks, are exposed to train noise and vibrations as the trains pass by, which happens often and late into the night. During our 4 night stay, trains would be going by well into the twilight hours. Heavy sleepers will get woken up. Light sleepers: good luck falling asleep without some help.
Cleanliness: Excellent -Our room perfectly clean. No bugs, mildew, mold, spots, or anything to complain about which is more than can be said for other area properties it seems. -Public areas were also very clean and well kept.
Value: Fair -Wasn't the lowest cost choice for me, and choices are plentiful in the Austin area. I chose it because it seemed like a good value but in hindsight, I'd gladly have paid more or accepted a lower standard and stayed at another property to avoid the train issues at this one.
Amenities: Excellent
-The WiFi signal was strong and rock solid during our stay.
-Outdoor pool area would have been nice to use if the weather permitted.
-An indoor pool would have been nice to have.
-Toiletries in the room were provided and OK for this level of hotel.
Service: Excellent -All staff were accommodating and friendly. -Even outside of normal service hours, the front desk and shuttle driver were sometimes able to take us back and forth from the...
Read moreWe stayed 1.5 nights (you’ll see why) at this hotel and my elderly parents found 2 inch long COCKROACHES in the bathroom. They had exposed food and drink and had to toss it all away. There could be cockroach eggs in their clothes or luggage, I don’t know. We’ll have to toss it all. I asked the front desk for a free night and an upgraded room. The front desk said yes she will call when the room is ready, then yes again when we left for domaine mall. ||||After 5 hours of no call and it getting to be about 5-6pm, I called the hotel to see where we are on the room. In comes JAY (different front desk person) who said there is no upgraded room and refused to rectify the situation, since we were twice promised an upgraded room. He also yelled and belittled me and told me to move my parents luggage to the room ourselves, when I asked if the hotel could at least move their luggage to the room by the time we arrived. Essentially, he told a paying customer to kick rocks. Great customer service (sarcasm). ||||Once we got to the hotel to pick up the keys, I let JAY calmly know I didn’t appreciate being yelled at and belittled and he went off on me and said he would kick my 60+ year old father ass. I have it on video. This is absolutely unacceptable for a Marriott hotel. Yeah JAY, you are a tough guy for threatening my 60+ year old father… ||||I hope corporate Marriott contacts me, as we stay on avg 75+ nights at Marriott hotels a year and I gotta be completely honest, this is the worst Marriott associated hotel we’ve ever been at in our entire lives. ||||The complete apathy of JAY and his lack of professionalism makes me very scared for the health and well being of anyone staying at this hotel. I thought he was gonna try and fight us or worse, for simply asking what was agreed to and promised to us…. Do not stay here if you enjoy being safe. ||||By the way, verbal assault is a misdemeanor under texas law and it was during the course of business and we have video of him saying he’d kick my 60+ year old dads ass and that he “doesn’t care” right after, indicting he’s willing to maybe go above and beyond that? Seriously, what is wrong with this guy. We are just trying to have a normal relaxing family vacation during Labor Day weekend… ruined...
