I ordered Chicken Biryani, and it was horrible!! The seasoning was off, and the chicken leg (the only one you get in this 15.00 dish) was dry and severely overcooked! I barely ate any of it. I brought it back to the food truck. They would not give money back or exchange for a new dish. 15.00 wasted. Follow up: they gave no reason the day I brought the food back (no one in the truck speaks much English). Which is fine until there's an issue or special concern like allergies or diet? anyway, they also made no attempts to explain or apologize. Now after I post this they replied that I returned the dish after 3 days.
FINAL UPDATE: After a year someone finally apologized for my experience and offered a refund. It was never about the money or the mistake it was all about how you handled it. I accept your apology. At this point I do not need a refund or replacement just please take better care of your customer relations? Thank you for the acknowledgement that there was an issue and offering to correct my experience. We can not avoid mistakes they are inevitable. Its how we handle them that makes ALL the difference. I wish you guys the very best. I will consider the...
Read moreOMG, I have discovered this little yummy treasure here in Central Austin! I was in the mood for some comfort food that no longer has a place in night life; I.E., stay open late anymore, due to COVID, so I searched my comfort food choice open in my area, again none open, but GMaps offered me this little gem instead. Driving up, you pull into this gas station, and it doesn't look like much, but in my opinion, it is the cutiest little food truck! There were other customers waiting for food they had placed in advance. Heads up, you can call in your order. If you're like me and want time away from the home, then you can pull up and order. The space around the truck is kept very clean and nice. They have trash cans. I was a little nervous to walk up and order, only because I was looking for a Chinese restaurant. But the smells coming out of this little place smelt sooooooo good, and after throwing up for days on end, I need and wanted to have whatever that smell was! I walk up and look at their menue. Everything is very easy to read and understand. Again, I was nervous to order, but only because I hadn't had Indian food before. I walked up, and the 2 guys on shift were very friendly and helpful, so be nice, patient, and understanding. I ordered the Butter Chicken, Lo Mein with Shrimp, 2 Butter Nan, and a Chai Tea. Me, being me, I enjoyed my time waiting for my food. I was hanging out in a part of Austin that used to be old stoppin' grounds. I had my music on and was just waiting for the deliciousness I could smell. I noticed other customers were getting upset, I guess from having to wait, but seriously, the wait was not that bad. Let me put it to you this way, I have waited in longer lines for really shitty ass tasting food. I get my food and take it home to share with my family. Guys, I got a lot of food for like $40! My sister, who had Indian Food before, from like some high-end restaurant, was very impressed and preferred these guys Butter Chicken. It was so delicious and so tasty. All the yummy yet complex flavors with such simple meat as chicken sent me into a food high! And, the Lo Mein is some of the best I've had, Chinese or not! They have some spice, so if you don't like spice, try a different Lo Mein. Basically, what I'm trying to say is that this was the best place for me to try Indian food for the first time. This was a wonderful experience, and I shall be coming...
Read moreMousam Spice House has really good food, good prices, and fast service. This food truck was really close to where I was staying, so I had to give it a try.
I ordered butter chicken and samosas which came 2 to the order. The butter chicken came with rice. The sauce was very fragrant, nicely spiced, and it had a subtle sweetness. It was filled with cubed chicken. The chicken was a little tough, but it did not detract from the excellent flavor. The rice was light and fluffy. I like the sauce enough that I feel like I could eat it over rice, like rice and gravy.
The samosas were cooked fresh when I placed my order. These are the biggest samosas I have ever eaten. They were triangular, with round, bulging middles. The filling was well mashed (but not pureed), perfectly compacted, and very flavorful. Of note, there were not too many green peas. I’m not a fan of those, and their sparse distribution was appreciated. The dough was thin, crisp, and not greasy. It was served with a small cup of spicy sauce. Yum!
*no rating for atmosphere because I ordered to go. This is a food truck in an Exxon gas station parking lot, on Guadalupe St, just north of campus. There’s a couple of picnic tables. It’s not set up...
