I really wanted to like this place, and I’ve tried to give it a fair shot. This sandwich in the photo is the third time I’ve ordered the vegetarian one. The first time, it was great. The second time, a little better after some small tweaks. This third time? I just let it ride — “everything on it, all the way.” And man… it was rough. It doesn’t make sense how a sandwich shop can make great meat sandwiches but can’t seem to get a simple cold vegetarian sandwich right. The whole thing was mush — the pickles were soggy, the sauce felt random, and it all just kind of fell apart. I ended up trashing it. What really gets me is that I ordered a sandwich for my dad the same hour, just a bit earlier — packed with meat, not a veggie in sight — and when I asked for “everything on it,” no vegetables came through. Luckily my dad loved it how it was, but it makes it feel like the care disappears when you order vegetarian, and that’s just disappointing. I want to like this place, I really do. I’ve been in enough times to know they can make something great. But this last experience felt careless, and that’s the kind of stuff that reminds you why you just cook at home.

The food was pretty good, but the prices are absolutely atrocious. I got just a 7 inch sandwich, no drink, no sides, and paid 18 dollars. On what planet is that even remotely reasonable. Fun one time thing while visiting Austin but beware your wallet will suffer... EDIT: The response from snarfs to this review is complete BS. They do not pay a living wage, their application form says 12-14 dollars an hour. The average living expense in austin according the AptAmigo Blog (they break it down more in depth in the article and in the screenshot added below) the average cost of living is 2600 a month, and that was roughly a year ago implying it is likely higher now. Meaning that you would have to work roughly 6 hours of overtime a week just for living expenses at the top end of their pay range. Stop pretending to be the good guys and pocketing the money that according to you ought to go to workers.

Ordered two sandwiches and two bags of chips through Uber eats. One eggplant Parmesan, add mushrooms, one Turkey, add bacon. Eggplant parm had no cheese, a few small pieces of mushroom, and a very small amount of red sauce. For $20 for that sandwich, it was the worst thing I have ever received. The Turkey sandwich had no bacon. We paid extra for both the mushrooms and bacon and they did not come through. I called to complain and the girl was very helpful, said she’d refund me and give me 2 free sandwiches on my next visit. I never saw a refund and won’t be returning as I don’t live in Texas. $53 for the whole order, a big waste of money. Do not recommend.

It’s a shame when a food place, specially a local one, has really good food, yet the personnel makes the experience unpleasant

And reading the reviews I realize I’m not the only one who have had a similar experience

This is just my 2nd time here, and I came back because I remember trying the Italian sandwich on my first visit, so I definitely wanted to try it again

And yes, I had an Italian sandwich in this 2nd visit, and it was as good as the first time, that I admit

BUT, here comes the downside of the experience

While placing my order, the kid who took my order wasn’t as engaged as you would expect, like he was on “autopilot”, but no big deal with that

Thing is, about a minute later, I realized he never asked what size I wanted for my sandwich, so he charged me for the “medium” 7inch sandwich

I actually wanted the large one, 12inch,

So I asked the tall skinny kid with the beanie hat and the funny attempt of a goaty if he could make it a large and I would just pay the difference

Initially he suggested to just buy a small one, and I told him that that would be $4 more dollars than just getting a large one, so he told me to figure that out with the cashier, but with an attitude, not friendly at all

Then when I told the cashier about it, he said he could give me a discount if I would buy a small one, and I told him I just wanted to pay for a large one if possible, that’s when the kid who was making my sandwich said in a louder voice “I MADE IT ALREADY!!!”

And I said, “ok, no problem then”, but it was the attitude on the kid, like he was annoyed about the request, but I guess it was also because he was about to finish his shift, as I noticed shortly after

It may sound like no big deal about a simple sandwich, but I can really feel the unfriendly attitude

I’ve been to other local food joints where employees are friendly and think out of the box to find a solution for whatever situation that may arise

Jewboy Burgers, Homeslice Pizza, Buddy's Burger to name just a few

And again, the sandwiches are really delicious, but no matter how good food is when your staff's customer service is not as good

I’ve seen that with a couple friend’s businesses, the human resource lets them down and scare clients away

I wrote this while still at the restaurant, and I even noticed a gentleman who seems to be a manager since he was checking something in his laptop but he was also taking orders, and he seem to be not happy with someone from the staff neither, but he was definitely giving the example by being friendly, explanatory and engaging while taking customer's orders, he even replaced someone’s product because the original order wasn’t good enough apparently (I was here on Saturday Aug 16th between 2:20pm-3:30pm)

I may come back once again, hoping to have a better experience, so I can raise the rating to five stars and not having to lower it to 1

Talk to your staff, specially the younger ones, tell them to not act like jerks and to take care of the business as if it was their own

AMAZING...

I want to start this review by saying i love snarf’s so much. Everytime I have come here the service has been so wonderful. The employees are warm , kind and always very accommodating ( i have a gluten allergy ). But this past weekend I came in with my girlfriend and friend ( we are all girls ) and the experience was the complete opposite of every other time i’ve gone. One of the employees ( maybe a manager or supervisor ) chauncey was so unbelievably rude to us it was insane. He ignored us while ordering , he stared in the distance unresponsive while my gf tried to order and because he wasn’t responding or typing anything she stopped talking to give him a moment then tried to talk and order again and he interrupted her by saying “i already heard you what else” when she was done ordering he slammed her cup down in front of her very rudely. Trying to give the benefit of the doubt i ordered and tried my best to be kind because you never know what’s going on in someone’s life I used please , thank you , smiled a lot and while I ordered he was still incredibly rude. By this point my friend ordered and he was once again rude. He ignored us while we spoke , he gave my friend all her change in ones and while he was counting it out she said “can i actually have two fives please” he ignored her kept counting it then gave her $12 in ones. I tried my best to brush it off because sometimes people have bad days ( not that it’s okay it was still so dehumanizing ) but he didn’t talk to the male customers like that he was nicer and warmer but to us and other women he gave us such horrible looks and was so belittling and dehumanizing. I’ve never had an experience like that there or anywhere and i want to emphasize that it was just this one employee , but even with it just being one it was so hard to move on after that we didn’t even enjoy eating because we had felt so belittled and so dehumanized. It makes me not want to come back to a place i really enjoy because the enjoyment has been replaced by dread. Chauncey was insanely unprofessional , rude , degrading and just...

I have been a regular customer here for 3 years. I’ve ordered so many sandwiches online, I have accumulated points for several free ones.

Last Friday, like every Friday for me, I come here to pickup a sandwich I order online. This Friday, the manager Maddi, was particularly extra rude when I inquired about my missing sandwich. She yelled at me that “I’m not Tina” (which is obvious) but she wouldn’t even hear my question.

I stood and waited 15 more minutes for my sandwich. I finally asked Maddi the manager again about it and she flipped out, and told me it was being made soon. Meanwhile an Uber eats driver cut in front of me, and she screamed at him, and he just left without any food. She told him his order would be 45 more minutes!

I finally had to speak up so she would look into her pile of sandwiches and piles of receipts to find mine. Turns out, it was made 30 minutes ago and someone walked off with it!

Had I not spoken up, I would have waited 30 more minutes for my sandwich because now the line was clearly out the door!

I have never been so insulted over a sandwich in my life. Maddi, the manager at Snarfs owes me a apology. I did get a refund and spoke to their corporate office, but their corporate office hasn’t followed up.

I am ashamed, embarrassed and pissed off at this Snarfs location. I’ve turned on many people to these sandwiches, all my coworkers rave about them now.

I’m not sure what to do with my online points anymore, as I won’t go back to this restaurant and I will never let that angry manager touch my food. Good luck Snarfs....
