The food was amazing. We had the pleasure of meeting the owner, he was such a delight. As soon as he walked us in, he sat us down conversed with us. He is such a nice guy but our server... Was not attentive to us at all. He seemed as if we were a bother until it was time to pay (of course). Smh I was so excited to come in, because of the amazing welcoming by the owner. I can't express enough how a bad server or host can kill an experience. He was the only server there I heard him telling someone on his cell phone. He took a few personal phone calls before he even said hello. At one point he came and stood in front of our table said nothing...Am I a zebra? I'm not sure what the servers problem was, I felt very uncomfortable. My entire family felt uncomfortable, we didn't even finish eating we packed our things up and left. Make him a busser, he definitely didn't have any customer service experience. I feel so bad writing this because of how kind and amazing the owner is, but I feel it is important he see this. I love your concept of family dining (something for everyone) but check that staff and their positions. I wanted to order more food, 😔 unfortunately didn't feel comfortable doing so. I had just told my friend who is an Austin food blogger about how excited I was after meeting the owner to try TEXAS TOAST. We had actually went down Guadalupe Street to eat somewhere else, when our first choice didn't work out (terrible plumbing smell in building) . We walked across the street to this establishment. I also left a note on our receipt explaining why the server was tipped the amount he was. There is a stigma about people like "us", I base your tip off of your service. I myself in my early twenties was a server and I cared about the service I provided to others. I am so sad to leave this here. Maybe one day we will try it...
Read moreWe stopped here today while visiting Austin, and sadly, it just wasn't a fit for us. The portions and menu were all over the map. Burgers don't come with fries; it's just a singular, small-sized burger on the plate. The fries, if you do order them, aren't seasoned and are pretty bland. But a friend got a breakfast meal, which was enormous and too much food. My daughter didn't like her chicken-fried steak; it was gritty, and the rattlesnake fries the waitress listed as a possible side option came with an upcharge. The fruit she also got as a side was extremely fresh, so that's a win. For three of us to eat lunch and get a soft drink each, with tip, the total...
Read moreI have no idea how this place isn’t packed constantly!
The food: 10000/10. The chicken was perfectly seasoned, super crunchy, and somehow juicy too! The gravy makes you want to slap your mama (if you know, you know)
The service: We had Samuel and he was hands down one of the best servers I’ve ever come across, and as a former server I’m pretty picky. He was so personable, attentive, and genuinely cared that the experience was a great one.
Do yourself a favor and come here. Specifically, request...
