Nestled in the heart of downtown Austin, The Kitchen is not just a restaurant—it’s an experience. After a long day at SXSW, Alissa and I wandered in without a reservation, hoping for a great meal but not expecting what turned out to be an unforgettable evening of one of the BEST meals we have ever had. From the moment we stepped inside, Celina made us feel like VIPs, setting the tone for a night where every detail—from service to ambiance to the last bite of dessert—was nothing short of perfection.
Dining out is about more than just great food—it’s about how you feel while you’re there. And that’s where Addie comes in, giving a Masterclass in Hospitality!! I’ve eaten at some of the best restaurants in the world, but I have never had a server as exceptional as her. She didn’t just take care of us—she curated our night with grace, intuition, and an infectious enthusiasm that made every interaction feel like a moment of genuine hospitality.
Her kindness was so hospitable. Her timing was impeccable. It was as if she had a sixth sense for hospitality—always present but never intrusive, making sure every sip, every bite, and every moment flowed seamlessly. She knew we were LOVING everything we ate and she was so happy for us.
Addie, along with Carol didn’t just serve us dinner; they elevated our experience. Everyone made us feel like we weren’t just guests but friends she was personally excited to take care of. If you dine at The Kitchen (and you absolutely should), ask for Addie. You won’t just be taken care of—you’ll be spoiled.
The Kitchen strikes that rare balance of being both sophisticated and inviting. The attention to detail is evident, from the textures and lighting to the perfectly arranged tables. It’s the kind of space where you can enjoy an elevated dining experience without any pretense—just warmth, energy, and an atmosphere that feels both refined and comfortable.
We live in College Station, but we’re already planning a trip back next week to experience it again!
The Kitchen doesn’t just serve a meal; it tells a story, plate by plate, ingredient by ingredient.
Standouts from Our Meal:
⭐ CARROTS – Whipped feta, pistachio, cilantro, mint. Who knew carrots could be this good? The combination of textures and flavors was outrageous—the creamy feta, the crunch of pistachios, the fresh burst of herbs. Absolute perfection.
⭐ CABBAGE – Soy crunch butter, lime Savory, smoky, and just the right touch of heat. This dish was proof that even the humblest ingredients, in the right hands, can be extraordinary.
⭐ GRILLED OYSTERS – Brown butter sauce. Velvety, rich, and decadent - I need a gallon of sauce to go please!
⭐ BURRATA – the creaminess of the burrata paired with the citrus and the depth of the rosemary-olive focaccia was unreal.
⭐ HAND-CUT GARLIC FRIES - HOLY MOTHER OF PEARL these were good!
⭐ PAVLOVA – Raspberry, Meyer lemon mousse, buttermilk ice cream, pomegranate. Light, airy, tangy, and flawlessly balanced. The kind of dessert that makes you pause after each bite to savor it.
⭐ CHÈVRE CHEESECAKE – Blood orange, hazelnut crust, sour patch candy, kumquats. A completely unexpected and brilliant twist on cheesecake. The tang of the chèvre, the crunch of the hazelnut crust, and the surprising zing of the sour patch candy made this one of the most unique and memorable desserts we’ve ever had.
Exceptional. Flawless. Unforgettable. Every bite, every interaction, and every moment at The Kitchen reinforced why this is now, hands down, one of my favorite restaurants ever. It’s not just about the incredible food—though that alone is worth the visit—it’s about the people who make you feel like you belong, like you’re not just dining out, but experiencing something special.
If you’re in Austin, The Kitchen is a non-negotiable stop. And whatever you do—don’t skip the carrots. Ask for Addie and Carl - and have Celina give you a tour if they can! You will NOT be...
Read morePlease ignore the low reviews. Something I would normally never say because everyone is entitled, and I know experiences differ widely from person to person, but I simply cannot fathom how anyone could leave here un-awed to say nothing of unhappy. Four of us went to dinner, four people who make a point of dining at all the most amazing restaurants here and town and around the world. It is not hyperbole to say that we were blow away. So many unique preparations, amazing powerful flavors, and beautiful and thoughtful preparations. There are 6 or 7 dishes I would make a point to go back for, and another 6 or 7 that we didn’t get to try.
The service was exceptional also. Ingrid our server was great, but the teamwork and extra hell she got put it over the top. They did all the little things right, my wife is currently googling where to get the soap and air freshener they use in the women’s room, small things, but all done thoughtfully. The atmosphere and esthetic is great, warm and spacious. Not too loud or too dim.
Some dishes you have to go and try:
Gem lettuce: little gem is my favorite lettuce, this salad had that crisp freshness I have come to expect from gem, but it also has a bright acidity and a touch of umami that really set it apart.
Indian puffy tacos: a delicate presentation that belied the explosion of spices and flavors all layer into a single bite sized piece
Carrots: perfectly sweet and tender, balanced with a sharpness from the whipped feta and a touch of texture from the pistachio.
Mussels: my wife’s favorite dish. Done in a Chinese style with black bean, chili and ginger, it was such an unexpected departure from the garlic and white wine that is so ubiquitous.
Lamb Arayes: a middle eastern inspiration, ground lamb and spices in a kind of pita bread then grilled. The lamb was juicy and moist, the cumin and clove was balanced perfectly against labneh dip, so well executed.
Chicken ala brass: possibly the best half chicken I have ever had from a nicer place. Seasoned and cooked under a high temperature the skin was crispy and the meat was tender and juicy. Served with a mint and cilantro sauce that made it something really special.
We had all 5 desserts, there is not a one I wouldn’t eat again. The churro doughnuts were warm and served over a coffee ice cream. A key lime semifredo dipped in a chocolate shell. A passionfruit cremeux, just divine.
All in all I went in expecting a good dinner but nothing special and left so amazed that I had to sit down and write this review. Do yourself a favor and go here, if you try 5 dishes and don’t find at least a couple you would come back for then something terrible has happened. Just...
Read moreAfter an unforgettable first experience (during SxSW 2025) at The Kitchen, I couldn’t be more excited to return this Friday to celebrate Alissa’s birthday. The last visit was nothing short of spectacular—every course, every detail, every moment was thoughtfully curated and left us wanting more.
We’re counting down the days to be back in that warm, elevated atmosphere and indulge in another exceptional dining experience. There’s no better place to toast to someone so special. Cheers to round two—see y’all Friday! #Tableof6

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Kitchen – Austin’s Best-Kept Culinary Secret (But Not for Long)
Tonight marked my third time dining at The Kitchen, and I’m officially putting it in writing: This is the best restaurant in Austin. Period. Maybe even all of Central Texas.
The fact that you can still snag a reservation without bribing someone in the parking lot is mind-boggling. This place is an absolute sleeper hit—but not for long if I have anything to say about it.
Let’s talk food, because oh honey, it deserves a standing ovation:
✨ The burrata is hands-down the best I’ve had anywhere—and I’ve done some serious globe-snacking. Creamy, delicate, perfection. 🦪 The oysters? Fresh as the Gulf breeze and plated with precision. 🍝 The bolognese is layered, rich, and exactly what comfort food would be if it had a PhD. 🥟 The gnocchi floats like a dream and lands like a memory. 🐟 The redfish and scallops are seared to sublime. 🍫 And the chocolate mousse? Don’t play yourself—just order it and thank me later.
Pro tip: ask for Addy or Hunter—their service is equal parts charm and excellence, and they make you feel like the guest of honor at your own birthday dinner.
Now, let’s address the bougie elephant in the room: If you’re letting someone’s last name keep you from experiencing this kind of food magic, that’s not political—that’s tragic. You’re letting your personal biases get in the way of the best meal of your life. This isn’t about politics. It’s about palates. And baby, this one’s a masterpiece.
The Kitchen is what happens when ingredients are respected, flavors are fearless, and the mission is clear: Feed people like you mean it.
Book a table now. Thank me later. (Or stay mad and miss out—more room at the bar for the rest of us.)
