We tried the place last night. I wanted to love it but it was not great. Upon entering we walked in and told them it was our first time and wanted to see a menu, sit down and make our decisions v. Standing at the counter and feeling rushed. After a few minutes we went up to order, got our own drinks and sat down. A few minutes later, our server brought the beef fried rice we ordered for the whole table. We had no side dishes or utensils, so I got up to ask our server where can I find this and she pointed to some plates and plastic utensils. Upon a visual inspection of our beef fried rice it had more fat pieces than it did beef, literal chunks of solid fat. A few minutes later, they brought out our Ramen bowls, and edamame. I ordered the breaded chicken Ramen bowl with chicken broth. The noodles we’re hard and I felt like we were eating top Ramen noodles. The broth was flavorless the fish cake was about the size of a quarter, the egg Was unappealing, it was just a bowl of mess. My daughter ordered the grilled chicken Ramen bowl and refused to eat the questionable pieces of chicken it was very fatty and once again more fat than chicken. I wish I would’ve ordered something off of the Hawaiian menu instead I might’ve had better luck. As we were leaving a woman going in as we were coming out asked if it was any good because it was her first time. I almost blurted out don’t go in there go somewhere else but instead told her to be careful what you order. I had high hopes for this place but will not go back. We spent almost 70$ and threw out all...
Read moreI tried this place on a whim, hoping for some delicious ramen and egg rolls.
Entering the establishment I was instantly greeted by a large amount of unbussed tables, not uncommon but a solid indication of the quality yet to come.
Nevertheless I approached the counter, ordered a pork belly ramen with tonkatsu Broth and egrolls. I bussed a table in the dinning room and sat down.
The food came out shortly after, the ramen coming jn a neat metal bowl and the eggrolls confusingly coming in a tacky disposable paper boat.
In spite of the plating, or rather the lack thereof, I was surprised by a delightfully crunchy exterior with a mushy interior. The taste was fantastic, steamed cabbage, carrots, onions, and with an unmissable garlic undertone bringing it all together; i nearly forgot the inside was the consistency of baby food.
The ramen, though neatly contained was an absolute travesty. The broth was fresh but bland, the noodles were overcooked, pale, and mushy. They seemed at one time fresh but long since passed thier prime and even had an unmistakable sulphuric taste to them.
The accoutrements were uninspired and typical: green onions, an overcooked unwarranted egg, one single paper thin and very small slice of fish cake, and beansprouts.
Overall I would say don't come here for ramen, the eggrolls are okay but not work...
Read moreI LOVE Yomie's purple rice yogurt. I had no idea there was one here in the Austin area!!! I had one every other day back in Seattle when we realized when we were moving to Austin that there was no Yomie's here (or so we thought!). Something about chewy sweet rice in also sweet yogurt is just dang delicious to me. This one had the same taste I missed from the Yomie's in the Seattle area.
As for the Chinese BBQ, I recommend the beef skewers. I prefer white meat to dark meat chicken (I know, not very Asian of me) so I won't get the chicken skewers next time as they were dark meat. I want to try their ramen too, although it was confusing because I usually associate ramen with Japan. They also had a kimchi fried rice on the menu and that's Korean so my small town brain was super confused lol. I want everyone to try purple rice yogurt though if you like boba tea's tapioca pearls at all. This is a similar sensation but purple rice has more nutritional value than tapioca pearls and yogurt gives a little bit better flavor than just...
