Experience here was disappointing and honestly appalling. Came here for dinner with my mother while traveling.
We both ordered a Ribeye which comes with one side, she ordered a potato and I ordered asparagus. We both ordered medium rare.
I took a few bites of the outside edge of my steak, and as I cut into it further from the edge, it was apparent that mine was severely undercooked (how two steaks ordered the same way and brought out at the same time could differ so much is very confusing to me) . I flagged my server down to let him know and his solution offered to me was to take the steak back to the kitchen to “warm it back up”. I declined this option, as I didn’t feel the flashing a steak that had rested and been cut into would yield a palatable result, and this was a very unprofessional solution coming from a “reputable” steakhouse. When I declined this offer the server very rudely argued with me and accused me of eating half my steak just to send it back, which was completely not true and I honestly was appalled he argued with me in this manner when anyone with eyes can see from my picture the steak was blue and borderline raw. I ate 1 of my 3 asparagus spears and maybe 3 bites of the edge of my steak. I asked for the manager and the manager was never sent over. The server only took my plate, never sent the manager, and never asked if there was anything I’d prefer to order off the menu when we asked for this meal to be removed from our ticket. He came back later and told me he “I wasn’t arguing with you” and that he “made it right by removing the meal from the bill”. While I appreciate an inedible meal being removed from the bill, the poor attitude and argument from the server made me really uncomfortable because he was straight out rude and aggressive. It honestly put a bit of a damper on what was otherwise a really nice vacation day.
As far as the other steak that was ordered, it was so overly salted and seasoned that it tasted like someone rubbed it in McCormick Steak Seasoning, probably to compensate for the low quality stingy meat to be honest. I’ve had better steak at an Applebees or Chilis equivalent. Literally with every bite, my mom was crunching into crystals of garlicky salt seasoning and she only could stand to eat about half the steak and we had the other half taken away because it was inedible and we no longer felt comfortable being in the restaurant.
Save your time and money and go to the Lobster Trap. We had multiple meals at the Lobster Trap that were quality and delicious and their service was light years better than this...
Read morePreface: I have never felt the need to write a review before, save for a few excellent experiences here and there. This one, however, was the single worst eating experience of my life.
We came to the restaurant as a party of 8 during what was apparently a very busy time. I did make reservations so there wasn't any surprise when we showed up. After being seated our server read off the specials, including a cut of Ribeye for $27. The entire table was kind of taken aback by the price, prompting my friend to ask "$27? That's seems almost too good to be true!" to which the server again confirmed the price. Because of this, 4 of our party ordered the steak.
After all was said and done, we received the bill, which showed the steaks listed as $40.50, instead of the originally quoted price of $27. I flagged our server down to inquire about the discrepancy, to which he replied "No, I said $37". I then asked why if it was actually $37 the bill reflected the $40.50 price, to which he agreed that was wrong but that the steak was never quoted at $27. We asked to see the manager.
The manager came out and was immediately very rude. He said "wouldn't it seem too good to be true at that price?" to which we responded "yes, that's why we asked again!" He then commented about how the server was "kind of new" and how he may not have known the correct price. Regardless, he refused to lower the price or make any adjustment, so in the end we had to have him remove the included tip so we could adjust accordingly.
I was extremely shocked at the treatment we received here and I am now aware of why there are so many negative reviews. As for the steaks, they ranged from decent to "worst sirloin I've ever had" across our table.
Only come to Steve's Steakhouse if you like to be charged different prices than what you were quoted for mediocre steaks and very poor treatment...
Read moreSeptember 6, my two daughters and granddaughter wanted a very nice restaurant to celebrate three very special events. We arrived about 5:20 pm, early for dinner. We were seated and given menus and asked almost immediately what we wanted to eat and drink. Ok, please give us a moment. Jose, our waiter, returned and verbally gave us the nights specials, one being a Tomahawk Steak for two. Great, that’s what they wanted, medium rare. He then asked each of my daughters if they wanted rice, baked potatoes or broccolini. Each chose a potato. I ordered a ribeye steak rare, plus Calamari strips for an appetizer. The Calimari appetizer was awful, very chewy and undercooked. My ribeye came, perfect. Oh, at no time did the server try to make more space for the bread plates or salad plates. We waited for the Tomahawk steak which was not served at the same time as my steak. When the Tomahawk steak arrived the waiter advised my daughter the plate was hot as he handed it to her.!!!!! It was hot and she commented to him, no response. My daughters looked at the over done steak and let Jose know, he started to argue but took the steak away, that left my daughters to split one baked potatoes. Why tell us it was a Tomahawk for two and ask each person what side they wanted. Rediculous . No apologies ever, it Jose did come back and tell us that Tomahawk was for another table. Wait, wait, and wait, when the second Tomahawk did arrive there was nothing g medium about it. The same server I earlier asked where the ladies room is, looked to be drunk later as he swerved to serve food. We decided not to make a scene. I paid over $300.00 plus a small tip. I will be returning to Catalina but NEVER...
