Although I can't attest to their Coffee (thought they do have lots of selections) or Breakfast sandwiches, I can say the bagels here are really, really good.
What's unique about Bagel Chalet's bagels is they're really dense and packed together and don't have much of a hole in the center so if you're planning on making your own sandwich with them, the toppings won't fall out which I like. The bagels themselves are great, moist, soft, and chewy on the inside, crunchy on the outside.
Good selection of flavors, a little bummed out they have no Pumpkin flavor this year, but you can get your sweet fix with the French Toast or Cinnamon Raisin flavors. I've gotten bagels from most of the best places in Northern, Central CT: Goldberg's and Lox Stock in W.Hartford, Isaac's in Bloomfield, Between Rounds in S.Windsor, Shef's Bagels in Chesire, Ami's Hot Bagels in Waterbury, Bagel One in N.Windham and Bagel Chalet in Avon definitely ranks in the top #3.
Like I said, they are definitely unique in the way they densely pack the bagels, almost resembling a ball but don't let that detract you from visiting this small Bagel shop. You can get 1/2 a dozen for a little over $6 and the people working the front counter are really nice...
Read moreVery good bagels, but Emily Wagner (prior reviewer) is correct. At 10:30 or 11:00 on a Saturday, they may run out of a bagel variety, even popular ones like everything or onion. What's with that? A bagel store running out of bagels on Saturday morning? Isn't that illegal? Shouldn't their bagel license be revoked? Seriously, I guess they don't want to be left with any bagels at the end of the day. Is the profit margin that paper thin? I've never heard of this. Isn't understanding demand on a Saturday and then having some extras left over at the end of the day part of the business of a bagel shop? Isn't it worth not having customers' jaws drop open in disbelief on a Saturday when you tell them you have no more everything bagels left and you're not making any more worth having a few bagels left over? Oh Larry (me), such a radical idea, where do you get these thoughts from? Why don't you go back to NY? You're such a whiner thinking a bagel store shouldn't run out of bagels at 11:00 on a Saturday. Jeez, what an unreasonable...
Read moreDefinitely a quality fresh-baked bagel but as a Jewish guy I'm probably a little bit extra picky about my Bagels, LOL. Very tasty bagel, just did not have the chewy Factor that you got from Bruegger's or even the famed New York H&H Bagels. That said definitely equality place to check out and looks like they have more to offer Than Just Bagels so I will be back. I got a toasted garlic bagel with lox and cream cheese spread AKA smoked salmon cream cheese and it was good but not Blended like I look for in a good lox spread. More like quality cream cheese that had some small pieces of lox mix through it rather than my preference on a lox spread is usually for the locks to be a little more infused and Blended into the cream cheese so you really get the flavor throughout. Quality Service in a nice clean spot and although I would say there are five star Bagels I have had if my favorite bagel place was unavailable for some reason I would certainly default to the bagel Chalet and be very happy with...
