The good: I will preface this review by stating that I am a New Haven pizza snob. That being said, the only positive in my first order with E&D was the pizza. The ingredients are quality and the sauce is very balanced not too sweet or acidic. I did wish they cooked it a bit more as it was slightly under done IMO. For me if there is no char it's not done. If I ever order from here again I will be sure to ask for it this way. The bad: Ordered Garlic knots for the kids. The tops were somewhat burned while the middles were barely cooked. They didn't have much garlic flavor as there was very little garlic but they were saturated with olive oil. The olive oil was of average quality so into the garbage they went. The Ugly: 2 orders of tenders from the kids menu. Way over cooked to the point most would call burnt, especially since they are coming out of a deep fat fryer. They were completely dry and stringy. My daughter being the non-complainer she is powered through one using the entire cup of B-B-Q sauce. Son took a pass and, I will say, the dog did enjoy them! I don't know why you would choose to send tenders that looked as over cooked as these did out the door. It sends a bad signal to me that you don't care about your customers. Maybe the indifference stems from the fact they were from the kids menu??? IDK but we bought 2 pizzas, 2 tenders, a large salad and the garlic knots. The gorgonzola salad was ok, it's a salad so its not hard to get right as long as everything is fresh. I will say, as at least one other has, that I would have like to have more pear in the salad. For the owner, I realize it isn't a pear salad but if you advertise pear in the salad, you should probably have a little more than 3 slices. If you didn't tell me it was in there, I would have not know. There were loads of dried cranberries and walnuts so maybe scale back on them a bit and add more pear. Another bit of advice, you probably shouldn't be so snarky in your responses to criticism. It will actually help you if you use it in a constructive way. I assure you my review is not trying to "destroy" your small business. In fact, I hope to have the opposite effect. I am sure I will try you again someday and hopefully it will be...
Read moreI really love pizza and wanted to support these guys but after 2 tries I just can't. The place is nice and clean, staff are friendly. Pizza does taste quite good, and yet after 2 tries I can't get a good pizza from them. On 2 separate occasions I ordered take out. First time I want to say I got a bianco with 1-2 toppings added. When I went to eat it- totally soggy pizza, the crust was too thin to support the rest of the pizza. At the time I thought that maybe the pizza was put in the box and had absorbed all the steam coming off it, it did taste good, so decided to give another try. Went last week and ordered a margherita with 1-2 toppings added on. Picked up my pizza and on the way back decided to open the box and have a look at it. To my dismay, there were literally pools of water in the pizza. Arriving at my destination I opened the box to see that the pizza had now absorbed all these pools. I was left with a soggy pizza again. The paper underneath tore away and stuck to the crust beneath, and as you would pull off slices the whole front end of the slice would simply fall off the crust leaving a floppy wet crust behind. Have to say I'm confused because the pizzas behind the counter that they sell slices off of look pretty good, leaving me to question why my pizzas didn't look like that?! Anyhow, after 2 fails I can't endorse this place much as I'd like to and with some good pizza options in close proximity I can't see...
Read moreNever have I ever had such a terrible experience ordering a simple cheese pizza. Car was just dropped off at the repair shop so I had to try delivery. Between Dine In CT and this Pizza Shop, I don't know which is worse. Although an employee attempted to contact Dine In CT to try and assist, the pizza shop didn't even bother trying to make things right any further once Dine In CT rebuffed their request to still deliver our order which in my opinion is never okay in customer service, especially considering the issue with what we were previously told by an E&D employee about delivery vs what Dine In CT stated as well as the circumstances explained. If you tell me something, I'm going to hold you to it! Not only that, this is our second attempt at ordering this week. First attempt also didn't work out for us to pickup either as they were closed way before their advertised time online. Because of this, we were subjected to McD's for dinner that night. Tonight, guess it's cereal. It's apparent they can care less about what they're advertising let alone their customer's and more so about the customer's money, if you can pickup the food yourself and not take them out of their way that is. Truly a shame because their pizza was actually good. I'm not looking for friends but I also don't support businesses that could care less about me so I will not be spending any more money here and neither should you if you value...
