they have dole whip, so that accounts for the 2 stars, however, they are very rude. every other ice cream stand I've gone to will combine vanilla soft serve in a cup with the dole whip (even though it can't be twisted, they still accommodate it...) BUT dairy treat apparently is so worried about making extra money, I had to order a cup of vanilla soft serve and a cup of dole whip and combine myself..... it completely takes away from the whole concept. when I asked why they wouldn't/couldn't do that, her answer "it's just not something we want to do" but they DO want to charge me $15. what a slum establishment! I won't be back.

Open since 1970 and still owned by the same people. It hasn't changed at all in 54 years and that's what makes it so great I've been going there since 1974 and it's so nice to see a part of Avon that hasn't changed. And the ice cream is still excellent as always!

A trip down memory lane with some new twists! The “Big Lick”! Always a stop when back home. So many youthful memories. Lines can be long but they move quick, friendly staff. Very local crowd that cherishes this favorite home town place.

One of the worst customer service experiences I’ve ever seen. While handing me a shake, the employee let it slip off the counter before I even touched it. We both watched half the drink spill all over the counter — the straw never even made it into the cup. I thought she would just make a new one, but she looked at me with blank eyes. When I brought it up, she said, “You gotta pay full price for a new one.” Seriously?

It wasn’t like I drank half of it and came back complaining — I never even held it. What should’ve been an easy, fixable moment turned into a complete mess.

Then the owner stepped in and made things worse. He told us to go to the back (we were still in line at the counter). I thought he was going to make a new one but he was incredibly rude to me and my dad, basically yelled at us — “hey, this is your problem,” and slammed the door in his face. No apology, no effort to make things right — just pure attitude.

The level of disrespect here is astounding. Clearly, their pride and ego matter more than basic customer care. I will...

My 4 year old daughter and I visit Dairy Treat regularly. We live in Northgate Park, so it's right down the street. 9 times out of 10, we walk away with smiles on our faces, but tonight we drove past at 8:20pm and it was so crowded that we decided to go for a cruise and let the line die down. We came back at 8:50ish. We were having a blast with a couple and their puppy. At 9:10pm, with 8 high school aged kids still in front of us, a woman with short hair (in her 40s probably) yelled out and told us that they close at 9pm and the people in front of us were the last ones!!! I couldn't believe it. #1 we were in line before 9pm. #2 we were having s great time and that lady kicked us out.. to be fair, why wouldn't you kick everybody else out? So disappointed, I understand everyone wants to get off work, but whatever happened to customers first? Society has created employees that care more...

My first 1 star review! Tonight my wife took my son for ice cream on his birthday. They arrived 10 minutes before close, there was one person in line, and my wife was rudely turned away because they were done serving customers.

I am not leaving a 1 star review as a disgruntled parent. I am leaving a 1 star review as a business owner myself who is disappointed in such lazy and inconsiderate customer service. If you own a business primarily for local families, you should probably in turn serve those local families who go out of their way to give you business. This isn't the first time we've seen paying customers treated like an inconvenience by the owners. Maybe its time...
