Sandstone Candle Works — Local services in Avon

I’ve never been to a “make your own candle” store. Wow! I am impressed.

This place has so many scents and fragrances that I’ve never seen anywhere else (tomato leaf, cut grass, dark chocolate) and a lot I HAVE smelled before, and I was able to make my own custom-scent room diffuser, and custom mixed fragrance room spray.

When you enter, there’s a wall of single fragrance candles you smell and write down your favorites, then you go up to the bar to learn what to do next to mix your custom fragrance item. They have a lot of options for gift ideas for how to use the scents…like candles of all shapes and sizes, sprays, aftershave, lotions, and tons of other gifts things like tea towels, jewelry, hats, etc.

The store itself is decorated beautifully. The building is located in a neat area with a tea room, near a French bakery, and a few other places perfect for a ladies night. It’s clean, bright, and upstairs is a party hosting area perfect for a girls night, bachelorette party, or book club gathering.

With all the glowing reviews here comes the fly in the ointment. Week of Christmas I wanted to stop in and buy some candles, think 2 days before Christmas. They were closed. OK, Christmas holiday, I can understand maybe taking some time off to be with family.

Looked up hours on Jan 2 and saw the store was open till 7 pm. Ran out to Amherst to find once again the store is closed.

I'm guessing whoever owns the business cares more about their personal life than being a successful owner.

In response to the the review below, we were there during the holiday season and never once had a problem with the hours. Businesses change their hours over the holidays all the time. The staff was amazing and the products are remarkable. My office smells like fresh baked bread today and I LOVE it!!
