We hadn't been here in a long time, and we probably won't be going back soon. My husband and I went on a Friday night. We were seated at a booth in the bar area. The light was so dim, we could hardly see the menu. When we arrived, they weren't too busy. Our waitress was also working the bar. We didn't get our food until after we had been there 50 minutes (and we had to ask for it). Three groups that were seated after us got their food before we did. It got busy, so the waitress was too busy to attend to the tables because she had a full bar and several other tables. She was very nice, so I don't blame her. I got the Southwest Chicken Tacos and there were only two little strips of chicken on each of the tacos (and the chicken was so dry). I doubt there was even a half a chicken breast between the two. Definitely not worth $13. The sauce was good, but it was not enough to offset the dry chicken. My husband got the Ranchadillas. He said it was "ok." They did make it right by giving us a discount.

I was so happy to learn there was an On the Border in Avon. I've been to another one in Texas and it was an incredible experience. The Avon location did not disappoint. I love the elevated Mexican style. My husband and I have been to lots of Mexican restaurants in Indiana and Illinois and they all seem the same. OTB has unique and delicious flavors and dishes, eventhe chips and salsa are different and great. The waiters and manager provided excellent service. We were on our way to the airport that day and detoured just to have lunch at OTB. I got a shrimp bowl. The best part is that it wasn't even that expensive. Two dishes plus two sodas were around $35. Plenty parking spots.

Really cool restaurant with good food. You definitely won't leave hungry. We we got there we didn't have to wait for a table and we got a booth. The restaurant was very clean. I had a very friendly waiter. He was super patient and answered all the questions I had and when I asked him about suggestions for an item he gave an honest opinion. He frequently checked in on the table and made sure things were going well. Very courteous. The food was really good and I would definitely go back and try some more items from the menu. If you are in Avon and looking for something good to eat, try On The Border. You won't be disappointed and you won't leave hungry.

My boyfriend and I went last night and it was the worst dining experience we've ever had. It's one thing to have bad service. It happens sometimes and its not the end of the world but we felt completely attacked by the GM after a member of his staff went out of their way to make our night better! When we asked that a new server take over our table, he mentioned that our server is new and is a friend of the Gm.after waiting 45 minutes then finding out our order was never put in the computer thats when we asked for the switch. The new server had our margerita and queso out in 2 mins and our food order was on its way. We were both happy at this point and just wanted to continue our dinner with the different server. Our old server only had 3 tables including us. That is not too busy to forget crucial aspects if your job. When the GM found out a switch was made from his friend to the other server, he was obviously angry. He walked up to our table without introducing himself and said "what's the problem" my boyfriend tried to explain the situation but the GM kept talking over him saying we were the hostile, impatient ones. He said "these people do not want to be here off unemployment where they were making 1000k a week they wont make that kinda money waiting tables. They are doing their best and you need to be patient" We said we simply wanted a new server and things were fine before the GM came over to us.he argued our old server was new I said he should be training with someone then. The GM then argued with us about staffing issues and basically saying the entire experience is our fault and we are impatient. He even said you've never been in this business you dont get it ( I was wearing my nursing scrubs) I said I used to be a server and he was a line cook we are very understanding of how this job goes and we aren't being unreasonable . He asked us multiple times "are you staying or leaving? I have the right to serve you or refuse you service" my boyfriend said you should want us to stay and the GM said no actually I dont. He was clearly mad we did not want his friend to be our server and made us leave after we waited an hour for our food that was never put in the computer. I have never felt attacked by a manager before and never felt the need to call a corporate office...

We called to ask how long the wait was and we were told 10 minutes. We showed up to the restaurant within 10 minutes of the call, after leaving a restaurant that we had a 55 minute wait, and the wait goes to 45 minutes even though we were the only ones waiting. I asked for a manager to discuss the issue and she never came out to discuss the issue with us. We got seated after waiting 20 minutes (with the worst server, ever). After we were seated, it took 55 minutes to get our food (this doesn't include the 20 minutes we waited to be seated). Mind you, there were only 5 in our party, including a six year old. There was a table of four, who were seated after we got our drinks, who had their food and were done eating before we got our food. The manager at the restaurant did not come talk to me at all after we had been seated at our table. Management is a direct reflection on the establishment and the service. Show your place of employment and your customers some respect, manager. After we got our food, my wife's steak was served raw (ordered medium rare), my sons steak quesadilla was BBQ chicken, and my steak big borduritto had no steak in it. I had to find the manager since she would not come converse with me or anyone else at our table. Her excuse was that she couldn't find us or our table. LOL, what a poor and lazy excuse. I would have given this review ZERO stars if I could have. Wish I could leave photos, but I can’t. Before we left, a couple sitting outside in the same section as our server walked out because the service was bad for them also. This was the the worst experience we have had there, and it happened on my wife's birthday. Thank you, OTB!

Compensation was supposed to be provided, and we received nothing. Still waiting for On The Border to make this horrible visit right. I am losing faith that anything will be done. Another mistake to add to the long list.

05/17/2022 and still no compensation for the mistakes made. No one believes in righting a wrong at On The Border.

7/924 and no one from management has provided us a call, an letter, or even replied to this review. On The Border does not belong in Avon, and does not care about their customers!!! Don’t waste your time, go...

The worse experience i’ve had in years. New server to serve 8 people, I will NEVER understand why restaurants allow that, DO NOT give your new server a large party. We ordered to kids cheese quesadillas ( AS THEY COME, no modifications) they brought us kids enchilada, because the server NEVER check on us my children waited hungry to get new food. Then they brought us chicken quesadillas, it’s hard to be patient when you have hungry children and you came to dine and be satisfied, and finally by the third time they brought my kids cheese quesadillas. The manager came by and apologize and let us know she was fresh out of training but you manager have failed this young lady because if she “fresh out of training” why did you give her a table of 8? After they finally got the food right, my kids only ate 2 piece of the piece because they were full of chips and slushy and this manager said he would comp the meal and did not. I paid full price for kids meal and drinks for food that was prepared wrong 2 times, and all we got was a lousy apology. Oh and top it all off I did order me a full entree as well and I took one bite and it was the most bland chicken i’ve ever had in my life, of course that was not on my bill. Oh and my sister ordered the same thing I ordered but that of course came out the wrong meal as well. Regardless of if the food was right or wrong the food itself was bland and disgusting. We were there for a birthday and this place was AWFUL altogether awful service, food, management, and accommodation. I will never give them another dollar I’m upset that I gave them money last night for such and...
