Finding a restaurant without a long wait in Bakersfield is no easy task on a Friday evening. Being out of towners, we found ourselves driving aimlessly around the city looking for a sushi place that offered some decent food. We nearly missed this small, modest looking restaurant on the corner of Oak and Truxton but thanks to my daughter's sharp eyes, we decided to give it a try and are so grateful we did. Apparently, this is a small, family owned business that has been a fixture in Bakersfield for many years from what I gleaned from the newspaper reviews on the wall. I ordered the teriyaki salmon and wife and daughter both ordered a combination tempura meal. The portions were huge! First of all, the food came out piping hot and not more than 10 minutes after we placed our orders. I almost couldn't finish the 2 large slabs of salmon cooked to perfection, sitting on top of a bed of sauteed vegetables. I also tried some of the tempura which was delicious as well. I would highly recommend this place.
