I had never been before so I wanted to try it. It'll be my first and last. Not what I expected it to be first off. Thought it was a real restaurant but turns out you're served like it's a cafeteria lunch... Tasted like school cafeteria food as well. The menu situation is slightly confusing and where are the menu is placed you're standing in the way of people trying to leave the restaurant. The menu should be above where they serve you so that you can read the menu and have them give you food like any other restaurant would do. By the time I was ordering my food I had forgotten half of what I tried to remember so I had to go back to read the menu that was 10 ft away from where I was ordering. Guess I should have brought a pen and paper to write down what I wanted. Back to the food, unfortunately the only thing I could think about while I was eating it was that I wanted to stop eating it. It's the worst excuse for Tex-Mex I've ever had. The food is nowhere close to Tex-Mex. I wouldn't even know what you would call it. But I call it awful. EVERYTHING was dry and flavorless, the portions were small and the prices were high in comparison to the portions. If you live here in town and have never tried it, just write it off and if you're from out of town and you just happen to want Tex-Mex, this isn't the place. The only thing good about this place that I've heard from other people is that they have awesome cake. So of course I wanted the full experience and I ordered the cake to go. I will admit the cake was great but it's also something they probably don't even make in house. I'll never know and honestly I don't care to know. Jake's text Mex is dead to...
Read moreDid a large catering order - per the menu I ordered per plate and thought it would come in to go containers 18 of them. So I did not order the utensils for $1 more. I picked up and they had it in trays, I commented that I thought it came in to go containers that I did not order a la carte meat and sides. Again I was told this is how catering comes. So I told the girl helping me that I needed plates then and she replied that I had to order them. I told her I would pay for them but I needed 18 plates. She said she could not because they had to be counted and wrapped in saran wrap. This was an order over $400 and she could not give me 18 plates or even ask the manager. I later call Lindsey the manager and I will say she was amazing. I let her know that I originally spoke with her and got an email to reach the owner because I was hoping to get a donation for a non profit organization or at least a discount but after 3 emails I got no response and asked my employer if they were willing to sponsor a dinner for this group and they gladly did it. Lindsey explained it is a small mom and pop restaurant and being this was during the business was already slow. I completely understand that but then reply to the email that unfortunately you can not help at this time. Just bad service all...
Read moreAlways love coming here for the great food and delicious cakes and cookies.. they never disappoint and you get great food for the price. Love their sandwiches and nachos.. they do some awesome chicken as well. Salads are always good. I love the cozy atmosphere and tables. It's my first time back since our crazy year of 2020 and Covid-19. So I was happy to walk through the doors again.. when I was ready to pay I noticed a sign with a photo asking for donations for a employee named Tatum who is what I assume is battling cancer because of the ribbon 🎀.. I am a severe A Hemophiliac and sit next to those in treatment in Hematology / Oncology.. I know what they go through, they fight just like I do.. So next time you come to eat buy some bracelets and support a BEAUTIFUL CAUSE for a beautiful person. I battle my disease everyday and I want to see this girl go forward with a beautiful future. You come for some great food here but it hits home cause we're all from the same city and SHOULD help eachother out especially after the year we had. Jake's is still one of my favorite spots for food and i wish everyone there all the best....
