You hear stories about bigotry and racism in public places in other areas of our country and I'm always a little surprised when I experience it in my own town...but not really, because after all it is Bakersfield. Twice I've been to the Cold Stone on Rosedale and hoped that it was just poor customer service and not me...but, My son had to use the restroom, so I told him to go to Cold Stone and make a purchase joking so they wouldn't call the police for loitering. He went in to use the restroom and get me a bottled water and ice cream. My son was in there so long I thought he decided to dine in. However, he came back 30 minutes later with a story of how he had been skipped over several times and felt ignored. He explained that the person at the counter was helping people standing behind him in line and even some patrons that just walked in were getting served as if he was invisible. When he spoke up for not being acknowledged he felt as if he was rushed out. I would chalk it up to poor service if everyone was treated this way, but when you single out one person and treat them indifferent then there's a problem. I really felt bad for him, because I really never gave my kids "the talk." I felt as if I didn't need to in these days and times, but I guess I was wrong. The Cold Stones on Rosedale is not friendly to everyone...at least not to me and my family. Someone will probably try to explain this...
Read moreDon’t use the Coldstone app. I was using it to place an order at the Rosedale location. I ordered the ice cream, entered my contact information, then my payment information. I touched the Pay key and it just stayed on the payment screen. I pressed it again and got some random error message saying You can’t change the basket. I assumed the order didn’t go through since there was no confirmation or anything. My son happened to be shopping near the Ming location so I asked him to go to the store and order the ice cream. I later checked my bank account and saw I was charged for the app order. When I called the store they told me they got the order and made the ice cream. I explained the situation and asked them to cancel the order. The manager said they would not cancel it because the ice cream was already made. Even though the app messed up. So I deleted the app. I would rather go to Dewars or Handels...
Read moreIf you want good service, this isn't the place that gives it. I walked in the store and was never acknowledged. I would hate to say this is about race but, can't help to think that it is. Not only was I not acknowledged, but people who came in after me were getting service, and I couldn't even get a hello. So I decided to sit down and observe. I could've made a huge deal about not getting service, but it was evening and I had worked 10 hours. So of course by this time I'm exhausted and I didn't have the energy. So as I sat and observed, I couldn't help but notice the unsanitary practices. Not cleaning counter after preparing each order. Going from register without cleaning hands and then preparing food .
