Flavor wise, I love the flavor of their sandwiches, yet, they could make it a lot better in the presentation and the care they put into making them, meaning, they verily put any mayo/dressing on the bread, the presentation of the sandwich loooked like they just throw it together in a hurry. Customer service wise, it is embarrassing. The cashier was rushing through the order, questions to her were answered as it was a bother to her and like she had no time to answer, even though there were no other customers waiting. Not only that, but continuously looking at her cellphone while we were ordering. Never offer any items to go with the meal, it was always "is that all, is that all". As soon as we paid, she resumed to her cellphone activity right in front of everyone. Another staff member, chewing gum in the front, mouth wide open, customers waiting to ask her for items to out their food to go while she is busy talking to the cashier that was on her cellphone. Both laughing, having a good time while customers wait. I definitely enjoy the flavor of a good sandwich like sequoia's, but for the price, the laziness and carelessness of the staff, I rather make...
Read moreQuick Summary Delicious sandwich, good portions, fast customer service, and busy/fun environment. Sequoia Sandwich Company delivers in providing a good lunch option. It doesn't blow you away, but you will leave satisfied with good food and fast service.
Food- 4 stars My favorite sandwich here is the Monterey Chicken Club. Meat was moist throughout. Bread was soft and toasty. And there was a great portion of avocado to mix with the grilled chicken breast and bacon goodness
Portions- 4 stars Chips and a sandwich here can more than fill you up for lunch or dinner
Service- 5 stars There was a line, but their workflow is very efficient. The wait in line, ordering, and receiving my sandwich was all done in less than 15 minutes. Can't ask for more
Atmosphere- 5 stars The place is packed, but there's usually seating available unless you come at primetime lunch hour. There's outdoor seating available and the bathrooms were clean.
Value- 4 stars
$10 for an above average tasting sandwich and chips is a good deal for me.
Bottom Line Sequoia Sandwich Company will make my list for regular lunch visits...
Read moreI frequent Sequoia, but solely for the desserts. Their cakes and cookies are some of the best in town. With large portions for a sweets lover like myself, the prices for these treats are very reasonable. While I give their desserts 5 stars, I have to give an overall score of 3 stars because I find their food to be quite lacking in relation to the prices. I have had excellent experiences with sandwiches from here, as well as some negative experiences. Their French Dip is incredible, but one time I ordered a grilled cheese and it was a huge mistake. Luke warm melted cheese isn't worth any amount of money in my opinion, and I felt very dissatisfied with the quality of the food. Their sandwiches simply aren't a good value for someone on a budget who appreciates decent food, which is a huge demographic here in Bakersfield. The masses, however, must disagree with me because the restaurant is always packed with very limited seating and wait times that seem rather long considering they don't actually cook most of the menu items, only assembly...
