Estrella Bakery — Restaurant in Bakersfield

Five years ago, I would give this place a four star review. The last couple of years the food has not been so good. The breakfast burritos are almost all potato now. The ingredients used to be more balanced. Tamales? At least 80% masa, just a bad value. The salsas and marinated vegetable are good though. I give this place a try every few months, but it has not been good for me in quite a while. The large stack of so much junk behind the counter on the right? I just went here at 6am on Friday morning bought a dozen donuts for $14 just to get home and discovered that they are not fresh at all they're probably at least a day old have no flavor you can see through the Maple in the maple bars. There's no density to any of the donuts because they've been sitting out for at least a day. A Bakery with a story, this place is a cafe with a homestyle feel to it. Food is delicious with a good range of options from tacos to burgers, and the donuts are always the best part. The bakery is a bit small, with only three tables in front, making it a bit cramped at times, the AC also has some problems.
