my initial review was a 5☆ read my initial review and then read why i changed it to a 3☆. it's no longer called Sakura buffet its called jades buffet i believe . anyways when i went this place was charging around $22.50 per adult children under 2 eat free. i didn't take any children over the 2 year mark or any seniors so i have no idea if children are half the price of what an adult would be or if they even have senior discounts. the classic coi fish are at the entrance to greet you just make sure you don't touch them or feed them. you no longer get guided to a table or get your drink brought to you by a waiter like before now you do all that yourself.they're still waiters going around to take the dirty dishes of your table but that's about it i don't see the need to tip anymore but it's still and option if you so please. they have a lot of verity of food and its good by far the best(or at least the few times I've been there) shrimp ive had of any buffet they were really good and were not mushy from a spending so much time in the freezer they were what you expect from a salt and pepper shrimp just make sure you hurry and get them as they leave as fast as they came from the tray. my favorite things are the saute mushrooms in a sauce, the pepper chicken/jalapeño chicken, the sea food boil, the chicken on a stick, chow main, and some of the sushis just to name a few things. great spot but definitely food is subjective when it comes to flavor so you be the judge for yourself
the only reason i didn't rate it a 1 star is because it didn't happen to me and i don't think its fair for both the person seeing the review or jades buffet to rate my experience based on someone else's experience however it's noticed and acknowledged. here's the reason i changed my review unfortunately i came across several posts on Facebook of people who i know personally that went there a few days after i did and they spotted a German cockroach near the trays this totally made me sick and filled with regret for even going there. to some it might just be a roach but to me it's a sign of what they are doing and not doing behind the scenes a sign of a filthy establishment. i still stand behind my previous statements however i will no longer be going here so although i like the way the food was and the new waiterless system they got going on i cannot step foot into an establishment knowing that it may possibly be crawling with filthy bugs all over the food. if they can't close for a few days to get rid of the pests for the people who go here in my opinion it shows how little they care about peoples safe being and that just scares me. good luck jades buffet i hope to see improvement on...
Read moreJade Buffet, previously Sakura Buffet, is incredible! There are 2 primary questions to ask in a restaurant review. 1) Q: Would you go back? A: Hell yes! 2) Q: Would you order/select the same items? A: Yes. But I would leave room to try some of my favorites I never got to try like the mushrooms beef & broccoli and crisp green beans.
When I saw the sign from the parking lot and it said, "All you can eat sushi." because I am a big fan of sushi, I figured it was worth popping my head in to take a look. To my amazement, it appeared 6 times as large on the inside and nearly every table and booth was full. That's always a good sign for any restaurant and good enough for me to give it a try. Plus, it looked very clean and the cashier and hostess were nicely dressed, well groomed, polite, and professional. Just beyond the cashier is a nice presentation of a Koi pond with large Koi swimming about. The hostess said tge large white koi has been in there 15 years. The feng shui ambiance given off by the koi pond with bubbles, waterfall, and splashing of the koi introduces a soothing vibration when you first enter.
It was only $25 total including tax for one adult. I inquired about children. It is $2 per year in age. So, a 5 year old is $10, 8 year old is $16, etc...The meal included all you can eat buffet of cooked chinese dishes, salads, and deserts, plus all you can eat fresh sushi and Sashimi with a help yourself to a large bowl of fresh ginger (I love that stuff!) Plus serve yourself fountain drinks, coffee, and tea. There is even a soft icecream srlf-serve station with 3 flavors; vanilla, chocolate, or vanilla-chocolate swirl. Everything, with no exception, was as fresh as you can imagine. Fresh mini clams boiled in the shell, cooked scallops on the half shell with cheese and fresh herbs, fresh shrimp cooked and served in 5 or 6 different ways, whole mushroom caps cooked and ready to be added to your choice of tender beef, chicken, broccoli, rice, fresh crisp green beans cooked to perfection, and more. The lettuce and all the fresh vegetables to throw on top couldn't look any fresher.
If you reside in Bakersfield and have the opportunity to treat the staff at your company or are planning a family event like a wedding party dinner, birthdays, etc..., You can't go wrong by bringing your celebration to Jade Buffet (Previously Sakura Buffet). I can't imagine even the pickiest of critics having any room to complain. My only complaint is that they are not near San Diego.
When compared to a fast food burger meal or even a mexican food truck, a meal there with soda is $20+. No comparison for me. I'd choose Jade Buffet every time. Please open a buffet...
Read moreMe and my buddy went there Last night Nov 19th 2016, We saw the place packed we said no way in hell the place would have bad food, So we went in, We asked for a table for two we were escorted to a table. We went throught the buffet and the variety was good compared to other chinese/japanese buffets.
So we tried a little bit of almost everything, The wierdest thing happened, We couldn't eat more than one plate, Mostly those buffet places they put a lot of spices and salt so you can get full fast, We didn't eat mich honestly, And i honestly "A big guy" was stuffed like never before from an asian buffet???? Come on now, Honestly the food taste good, But when i finished the first plate 5 items "Half a spoon of 5 items is nothing", I was so stuffed that when i grabbed the 2nd plate i put 3 items half spoon, I couldn't finish. I said well overloaded with spices and salt "But honestly not to that point",
My buddy has a bigger appetite than me, and he maybe poured 6-7 items almost a full spoon, And he ate the first plate and he was stuffed, 2nd plate 3-4 almost full spoons, he ate little bit and he said i'm stuffed.
In my mind i said HOLY COW, I bet something not good gonna happen, Unfortunately since we went there around 6 pm until now 5:30ish am, i honestly went to the bathroom 4 times, Please forgive me but it was number 2 like a waterfall, That means a lot of salt and spices. Some people will eat and stuff their stomach and said well i got more than what i paid for, Me myself i will never ever over eat, cause this way you gonna have a lot more complications than number 2 watery.
I'm very well educated and i know what i'm saying, This place is clean, Nice staff, Cause they were busy they never cleaned our table when we went to get food the 2nd time, Understandable. The thing that really amazed me, They had two beautiful young i American young women, Maybe college students, Which makes the place more unique than any other buffet for some reason, Smart people they make you feel comfortable getting you in.
Anyways all my reviews were enjoyed by a lot other people, Cause i'm very informative just to give you a real feel to the visit, And no i'm not sponsored by anyone, Nor anyone paying me to do any reviews.
For me Atmosphere not too noisy, Clean, Staff look nice, Cashier had a genteman and a lady behind him, Probably the owners watching him like a hawk "SO UNCOMFORTABLE" imagine yourself working with someone staring at you from behind all the time.
I rate this place 6 out of 10, Reason too much spices and salt "Not good", Cleanliness "great", Atmosphere "Not loud for a crowded place" and lighting...
