Nice menu, affordable prices for the quality of what you get. Great service and by that I mean I was only in the restraunt 30seconds or so before i was seated and the staff asked if i knew what i needed to drink or if i needed time, I ordered a beer and got it right away and then i ordered my food and then my food came to me 3minutes or less after Iordered. piping hot awesome ramen! I live less than a 8minute walk from this place and i will be back for more ramen, sapporo, and hot sake.
EDIT 2021 This was my review from 2 years ago when i first started going to O ramen, it was great at the time. Since then I've gone back several times only to have lacking service and staff being rude to me over a mistake their staff had made. I ordered 2 orders of gyoza with my average order, the other set of gyoza was for someone else, normally that would come in 2 different take away boxes however I got home and noticed one which is completely unusual to what i was used to there because I guess its too expensive now to afford styrofoam takeaway container. So I called and the other person I ordered them for noticed they put mine and their gyoza together by then i was already on the phone with staff asking what happened and they said they put it in 1 box. If i order 2 orders of gyoza don't assume its for 1 person or a family and then speak rudely to me on the phone, i was a very regular customer i expect things to be packaged separately (like usual) unless i request otherwise. But instead i was spoken to rudely when all i did was ask a question in a monotone voice. All could have been avoided if you didn't cheap out and packaged them like usual and separately rather than cram 12gyoza in a single small container. Used to go here 1to2 times a week. Will not support a business who treats me as such because they decided to package their food differently and then when asked treats me rudely. I'll drive the extra 3to6miles to go to a different spot if that's how their staff want to conduct themself. Was a regular there and always loved it for the most part there and because of a mistake on their part I was treated rudely for asking a question, then when I ask for 2 orders of gyoza I expect 2 separate packages/to go order boxes as I have always had before unless I ask otherwise. Even though I used to walk here often and take my family here often I will never come back again because of how rudely and up speaking the staff was to me over something they should have not done. 2 orders 2...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHmmm how do I begin...well I cannot remember the first time we actually made the trip to O Ramen but I can say it was after trying Kamisama Ramen (original location). Now in no way, shape or form am I a ramen expert but I take pride in knowing good food and O Ramen does it well. Over the past year or so I have not changed what I order unless it is an appetizer, some rice or my drink, I stick with one ramen simply because it blew me away from the first time it burned my mouth to just the other day when I had it yet again. Now I know there are other places outside of Bakersfield who may do it better, I would not know because I have not explored them, but in my foodie opinion, O Ramen does it best here in Bakersfield. What is my choice of ramen that has not changed? TANTANMEN! It is: A red chili oil pork broth ramen with chashu pork, marinated soft boiled egg, bean sprouts, bamboo shoots, garlic, cabbage and ground chicken. Recently I started adding an extra egg and extra noodles which come on the side to pop in when you feel the need. Tantanmen is bursting with UMAMI, the level of spiciness is always consistent and the depth of the broth is very rich. If you're not into spicy food don't fret there are six other ramen options which eventually I will try. Depending upon how much hunger we are currently enduring we may order some appetizers, we have tried several and none have disappointed. Their Gyoza which you have a choice of chicken or vegetable is done well, not oily like some places and the sear on them are quite perfect. The dipping sauce is just the right touch to accompany the appetizer. We have also had the Karagge Chicken, it is super crispy but the chicken is still moist. If you're into mushrooms and don't mind fried foods, their Monkey Ball is definitely a nice choice. They are panko fried mushroom that is drizzled with a spicy mayo sauce, that line just makes the mouth water up. They have many options which I do want to try, the Tantanmen is my addiction currently so I can't break away yet; they have Pan Fried Noodles, several Rice Bowls, salads, bento boxes and dessert like mochi ice cream. There is something for everyone to enjoy and O Ramen is the type of restaurant you will want to tell everyone about, we surely do, friends, family...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOverpriced & Mediocre!!!!!!!!! If the way this place looked tasted exactly the same I would say this place is amazing, sadly it does not!!!!! I ordered the tantanem ramen spicy. And it was super spicy which is amazing(word of caution it has chili oil sauce) but there was an off taste to the broth as well the piece of pork you get with the ramen is so tiny! The pork isnāt grilled either to give it a better taste. For how expensive this ramen is I expected more. The shrimp tempura is more batter than shrimp. Too thick in batter I might as well just get a bowel of batter and eat that instead š« I then ordered the salmon bento box and it was just as disappointing. They give way more vegetables than anything. And just the bento box alone was $23! The salmon alone was delicious, but I do dislike that they give you the salad with ranch and not Asian sesame sauce for the salad. You get steamed vegetables and just a whole divider with shredded cabbage š« if I was vegetarian this would be amazing but honestly very poor in taste and look. The drinks are expensive $4 for a tea! You get refills but other places donāt even charge as much and you get free refills. Hence, never coming back here . Aesthetic is beautiful but I wish the food matched the level of...
