Hubby and I wanted to do a late dinner date night & I decided to give Señor Pepe's a since I've heard nothing but good things about this place..
Let's start with the hostess greetings, she was nice and friendly. We got sat down quickly for being a Saturday night I thought it was going to be packed but it wasn't at all. We got sat down in the dinning room but ended up moving to the bar section due to the waitress saying hubby would need to get up to order his drink.. so we moved. It was a bit awkward when we got to the bar room, employees sitting down talking which I honestly didn't mind as it was an hour to closing.
Anyways, hubby ended up ordering the steak fajitas & me the shrimp & steak fajitas.. there was a bit of a mix up on the order but was resolved by a different waitress. Hubby wasn't a big fan of the rice, said it tasted like fish.. he did enjoy the steak fajitas. My dish was the one that got mixed up as I was served steak & chicken.. cook ended up cooking some shrimp on the side for me.. besides the mix up the fajitas were good, I liked the rice, had a different taste but good.. the beans for me weren't that great.. Dr Pepper on the other hand delicious.. now hubby ordered a Paloma I believe the first one was good.. then he ordered a second one & that one just tasted like soda.. honestly, he didn't even want to drink it but since we already paid for it, he wasn't going to let it go to waste.
Everyone was friendly, fajitas delicious, rice okay & beans ehh.. Dr Pepper 10/10.. probably won't be back.. most likely will stick to our regular go to Mexican restaurant..
Overall it was okay, wouldn't recommend to family.. but maybe we'll try again during the lunch specials..
Bill came out to $68 &...
Read moreFirst time here. Went on Monday afternoon after the business lunch crowds go back to work. Hostess/waitress seated us immediately and took our drink order. Another waitress brought our drinks and left. We weren't given menus when seated, and had to ask for them as second waitress passed by again. Other than that minor hiccup, we had a thoroughly enjoyable experience here. My neighbor ordered a margarita, which he said was delicious. service was fast, and food was as good as Mexicali. Maybe a bit better, IMO. the portions were large. My neighbor's wife ordered a Chile Colorado burrito and it was HUGE! I bet it weighed 2 lbs!She only ate about a quarter of it and took the rest home. They also ordered pot beans and were served two large bowls (not cups)full and they said they were very good also. I had carnitas which could have been crispier, but they had good flavor, and I had more than enough to satisfy my big appetite. The prices are reasonable. 4 meals, including two from the lunch specials ($9.75) and two from the regular menu came to just under $55, including one iced tea and one Margarita. You can't beat that! They also have daily specials and happy hour from 3-7 pm. Check them out online for those offerings, and then make Senor Pepe's your next lunch/dinner stop! We'll go back! Word of warning though, just from having driven past on numerous occasions in the evening and on weekends, they can get pretty busy, so go early, or...
Read moreI haven’t been here since 2004. The atmosphere, waiter and food were on point. My wife had the Enchiladas Suizas an I the two item combo (tamale & chicken enchilada). I haven’t been anywhere here in Bakersfield that knows how to make red and green sauce the way they do. It absolutely makes the meal unforgettable. The waiter was very attentive and came by 5 times to check on us. I asked him for some sliced lemon right after he took down a big order from another table. Just when I thought he forgot he brought it. The guy knows his job. The only thing that put a bad taste in our mouth was the individual that greeted us at the door. I’m not sure if she was having a bad day or she is just a angry individual. We walked in and the first thing I noticed was an annoyed look on her face followed by “how many”. Not even a hello. When she showed us to the table she gave us one menu for our table. I’m not sure if anyone finds it difficult to figure out what you want while the next person is waiting on you to see the menu. She didn’t ask if we wanted drinks just walked off. I’m not going to take down a star for this action because clearly this just a bad choice in hiring. So Patty if you read this…if you don’t like were you are working, there are many other places out there you can work where you don’t have to interact with people. Your definitely not representing Senor Pepe’s and its mission to bring quality in the...
