Slice of Italy — Restaurant in Bakersfield

When they do it right, it's really good. Unfortunately, about half my orders leave me disappointed. My preferred pizza of choice is a thin crust cheese pizza with white sauce. Not a lot of places do white sauce and Slice of Italy's is pretty good! Their crust is never crisp enough on the underside for me. Sometimes the crust is weird? I don't know exactly how to describe it--it's like they didn't mix the dough well enough and there will be pockets that didn't get enough water or something. Last night I ordered a large thin crust cheese pizza with white sauce but they delivered medium cheese with red sauce. By the time they delivered and I realized what happened, it was about 1/2 hour to closing so I just said whatever and ate it. After looking at my receipt (which was a different customer's receipt) I saw that they switched my pizza with someone else's. I've also ordered ranch before which has a volume listed on the menu but the container they give it in is half the size. Deliveries are all over the map, sometimes coming an hour earlier than the predicted time. You can request a delivery time but they'll also show up early and then, then you're not there to accept it, they just take it back to the shop and don't attempt a redelivery or leave a message or anything. I thought they were running late so I waited 30 minutes after the delivery time only to find out that my pizza was sitting on their counter because I didn't answer the door! Sad late and cold pizza that night...

IDK, it's definitely not bad pizza, they just struggle with quality control. Prices are also too high to be dealing with...

My husband and I were 1st time customers July 2015. We decided to stay in the restaurant and have lunch because we loved the atmosphere! They have table booths that are very comfortable and that's coming from a women that was 9 months pregnant..lol. My husband loves the flat screens with the football games on it. I ordered the veggie combo pizza and my husband decided to eat from the buffet they have. The food was absolutely AMAZING!!!! I tried food off of my husbands plate from the buffet before our pizza arrived to the table. He got different kinds of pasta and the chicken Parmesan it was so fresh and very authentic! My pizza arrived 10 mins after my husband sat down with his food and oh my gosh I will never eat pizza from anyone else except for slice of Italy. Their pizza is perfect! The price is wonderful as well. The buffet at lunch costed $10 and the pizza was only $ 20 for an XL! We always will plan to eat here at least twice out the month as a treat! For the month of august we decided to try their delivery which was also AMAZING! They were 15 minutes early and this time we ordered pizza and tiramisu because I had just delivered my son or we would have eaten out there again. I LOVE it here. Tonight was family night and my husband decided to try Slice of Italy out. The only negative thing I could say is that I waited the entire time I was there for my pasta that didn't arrive until I was ready to leave. I took my pasta to go. Aside from that minor inconvenience, I must say that the combination pizza was absolutely delicious and very well made. It was topped with loads of sausage, and my young daughter couldn't stop sniffing the pizza because of how delicious it smelled. My husband loved the fried chicken and wedges too. The portions are plentiful. When I got home I noticed the manager had given us a cup of ice cream and a family sized cookie for the inconvenience. The sun-dried tomato chicken Alfredo is the best chicken Alfredo I have ever had. The place was a bit busy tonight so keep that in mind when you're going in on a Friday night. The staff was wonderful and polite. My husband was in charge of the tab tonight and didn't tip because my plate was late. I really wanted to tip and since I couldn't I feel the best I can do now is to let others know that the food was wonderful and the staff went above and beyond for our family tonight.
