I eat at Mission BBQ Frederick almost daily being that it's so close to our office, and it quickly become one of my favorite spots. After almost 2 years I have certainly paid for one of those chairs in there. I have a full "collection" of cups at home (because I always forget to bring mine.) Most days I stop in for lunch, and some days I’ll also grab a salad or dinner to take home as well. I feel like you should trust my review given the sheer number of times I’ve been here—I’ve had just about everything on the menu more than once.
The staff here are consistently friendly, attentive, and welcoming—it really stands out. While I do have my favorite staff members for sure, and the lunch crew certainly does it better, the evening crew could definitely learn from the afternoon crew. That said, everyone there is great, and it’s clear they genuinely care about the experience they provide. Coming from years of food service/food service management experience and gm management, I know how rare it is to find a team that truly cares about their work, and actually tries but this location has some of the best staff I’ve encountered anywhere.
The food is just as impressive! If you know food, you know consistency is one of the hardest things to achieve unless you're doing it yourself ESPECIALLY in BBQ, but this place never disappoints. You always know what you're going to get and you know it's going to be great. The brisket and the burgers are my personal favorites, but honestly, everything I’ve tried has been excellent.
A few suggestions from a loyal customer to corporate folks:
-A spicy sauce or menu option would be a great addition. Heat is in, it is a growing trend, one of the biggest year over year and while the Baja sauce has flavor, it doesn’t quite deliver the heat many customers look for. (Also something less chill powder forward.)
-The pickup area could use a more defined space to wait for food. Right now, it's awkward standing in the way of guests and staff. There's just no where to go. They should've thought of that in the design layout.
-A rewards program would be fantastic. Nearly every restaurant offers one these days, and it could encourage even more repeat visits—maybe even lunch and dinner in the same day (other than myself).
-I wish the salads had more diverse toppings or at least the option to have.
Overall, Mission BBQ Frederick delivers great food, amazing service, and a consistent experience that keeps me...
Read moreMy family and I stopped at Mission BBQ in Frederick, MD to grab something to eat after our son's dentist appt on March 13th. We traveled 2 hours for his appt so we figured we owed ourselves some good food before hitting the road back home. And good food we had! My fiance and I eat baby back ribs every chance we get and we love trying new places. We are so glad we chose to stop at Mission BBQ! When we entered the restaurant we were kind of thrown off because you go to the counter, order your food, get your drinks, find a place to sit, and then wait for your name to be called then go get your food. It was a little worrisome at first, our first thought was we order ribs at the counter, no server?! We ordered and then in no time our name was called and a crew member helped my fiance bring it all to our table and we dug in... let me tell you something. If anyone reading this review has the chance to stop at Mission BBQ at any location, do not pass it up! Hands down the best baby back ribs we have EVER had!!! Talk about fall of the bone, juicy, great taste, and decent size! Our son had the salmon filet which was also delicious. Every crew member we encountered was pleasant and knowledgeable. As we were eating a young lady named Anita came along and stopped to check if our food was okay and if we needed anything. She was such a delight! She gave us some background on the restaurant and their food. How the restaurant came to be and how it is a family restaurant. She told us about the pit boss and how he goes in at all hours, on his own time, to check on the meat so it is always up to the restaurant's standards. We talked about how hard it is to find workers who care about what their serving, especially in the food business. After our conversation, we were packing up leftovers and Anita came back to our table with cards for each of us for a free sandwich at any location! Anita was so nice and she made a great meal into a wonderful experience all together, everyone did!!! We have to go back to Frederick to our son's dentist on April 4th and we already have plans to stop in and eat at Mission BBQ!!! This was probably the best experience I have ever had at a restaurant! Props to all of you working at Mission BBQ in Frederick MD! Keep up the great work! It really does make a difference to...
Read moreMy husband and I moved to the area from Memphis TN about 2 years ago. We have tried several different BBQ places around here but there was always something that we didn't like..We decided to try out this place a couple of weeks ago and I'm so glad that we did! The food is AMAZING!!! The brisket was so juicy and tender..my husband said he could tell it was going to be good just by looking at it lol..I love that they have different BBQ sauces that are associated with different states..there really is a sauce for everyone..my husband likes the Texas sauce and I like the West Virginia and Memphis sauces..and I love how involved they are with the community and the military and military families..but the best part was most definitely the service! We told the cashier that this was our first time there and he was so nice and patient with us..he also gave my husband and I both a free side for being first time customers..then we met the manager (Josh) and he was the true definition of above and beyond! He asked if we were enjoying our food after we had a chance to taste everything and of course we were (it was delicious) and he told us a little bit about the company..he gave us both a coupon for a free sandwich on our next visit and gave us a business card with information about signing up for their birthday club to receive a free sandwich on our birthdays..he was very attentive to the other guests in the restaurant as well...he went around to every table making sure everyone was happy and enjoying themselves and he even gave everyone a small piece of a brownie..and when he wasn’t checking on the guests he was behind the counter and cleaning tables etc. He was just so nice and friendly that he made the entire experience even better!! Needless to say we have found our BBQ place!! I would recommend this place a thousand...
