Since this place came highly recommended and was to try there popular Captain Crunch French Toast. However I am not a fan of Captain Crunch cereal, so I will pass.
Parking near by is crazy. You have a choice of parking via metered or street parking that allows up to 2 hours of free parking. Good luck! We were fortunate to find parking only a block away.
Upon our arrival, we checked in and was advised the wait would be about less than 20 minutes. We waited outdoors in front of the small cafe.
Was happy that when we were called our table was indoors. We were seated at the only table near the window.
We were immediately greeted and asked about beverages, but advised to wait til we had a chance to look at the menu. The menu is available via scanned barcode. After looking at the menu available, I didn't see the basic egg's benedict, so when the server came back I asked what it still available, and she advised that it can be ordered. I put my order in, but hubby needed more time. The server returned and hubby ordered the Blue Moon Breakfast.
The wait for the food seemed like forever, so eventually I ordered some hot tea since I was getting cold. The server brought me various tea bag choices.
Eventually our orders were brought out. Hubby took one look at is order, and I overheard him say, this was not what I ordered. I looked at his food and saw it was a sandwich with blue cheese crumble,, and hubby dislikes blue cheese.. I asked what was it, since I wanted to look it up. And saw what he supposedly ordered is not what he was given, which was was blue moon burger. I was not happy, and could tell hubby just didn't want to make a fuss, and again I was not happy he was given something he didn't ask for. The server overheard us, and I informed her of the situation. She asked him could we make him what he ordered to go. He declined.
Me on the other, my food did look good but I was lost for words. My egg's benedict had two different type of eggs, one actually poached and the other was overcooked and somewhat cold. The ham tasted as if it was expiring, left like a rancid taste in my mouth. The hashbrowns were okay.
Overall, the cafe didn't live up to the hype. Also, to be charged $20 for egg's benedict is way too much. Even though the server took hubby's order off the check, I am not happy to spend over $25 for my meal. We could've went...
Read moreAnytime me and my fiancée are going to a city or new place in general I am always looking for the best spots to eat. Breakfast/brunch I always look for the most interesting or unique. This definitely fit the bill for the most unique right away with their over the top versions of French toast and some other options as well. It is a tiny location with a wait likely due to the nature but honestly the wait wasn’t bad considering. Waters are at your table quite quickly. Besides water options are limited mainly to coffee or orange juice which honestly for the price orange juice was not worth it. Kinda wish they a liquor license since brunch cocktails are usually always a good bonus. To start we ordered Bacon Dippers, basically strips of bacon cooked in pancake batter. Kinda let down by these as the bacon was flimsy, skip if you prefer crispy bacon. Sounds like a good novelty but in practice not worth it. For entrees my fiancée got Great White Deep Blue Moon Pancakes (pancakes with lemon, white chocolate, blueberry). She did not think they were over the top special and wished she ordered something else. The crazier items did seem to lean a little to far on the sweet side as why she avoided them. I went with Sweet Baby Jesus which was great! Think hash browns mixed with crab, old bay, eggs, cheese and covered in hollandaise. It was a large portion and quite tasty. A good way to eat crab if visiting the city known for its crab. Overall a solid experience but for the price in the end not worth a revisit. It added up very quick and did not feel like we got the complete value of what we spent. Despite this I say check this place out if the wait isn’t too long and give it a try...
Read moreThis was my first time going. The menu online looked really good and I liked the pictures of the atmosphere. Once we got there all of that changed.
There was a 30 min- not terrible, but the host was frantic running around with a notebook taking down names.
When we finally got seated, it was the smallest table I had ever seen. And my seat options were right by the front door, or in the path of the front door. I chose to one on the pathway and got to look at the street instead of getting to see the room.
Then when our waitress finally got there she was yelling the specials to the table next to us and then spun around to yell them at us. I had been sitting for at least 10 min and already knew what I wanted. I got the bacon dippers as an appetizer, and blue moon pancakes as my entre and my partner got the blue moon special.
They brought all of our food out at once, our table was not big enough to hold anything.
The coffee I had was burnt, and the glass of apple juice my partner got was in the smallest glass ever.
The bacon dippers- one was burnt, and the other two were delicious. The only thing we had that had any flavor.
The blue moon pancakes- they are lemon and blueberry pancakes. They looked delicious, but once I started to eat them they were bland and you couldn't taste the lemon. They just sliced some lemon on top with the rine on and called it a day.
The blue moon special - the hash browns were mushy and had no flavor. The French toast was drowning in cinnamon and had no syrup or flavor to them. And they left the top on the strawberry. The eggs were perfect, the only thing about our entire meal that was done...
