Having this new spot pop up on my Yelp feed was a very pleasant surprise-- Fells Point has tons of food options and it seems that a lot of those are pizza joints. That does not mean though that they're all worthy of your business. Pie in the Sky, however, is.
Step inside the bold red exterior and you're instantly greeted by edgy, modern decor very representative of the outside. You've got marble-slated tabletops and counters and clean lines all around. Seating is more than plenty in the long, narrow dining area. You walk up to the counter, place your order, and take a number to your table. The owner, Murat, is extremely polite and a genuine pleasure to talk to. He will go out of his way to ensure you get what you want. His credit card machine wasn't working on the Friday afternoon that I went in-- naturally, I offered him cash. However, I sat and observed his interactions with every other customer who came in. He told them all to place an order and just pay him back later-- absolutely no worries. This kind of attitude, trust, and charm is what makes Baltimore 'Charm City' and I'm glad Murat embraces it.
Moving on to the food, you've got everything you'd expect from a pizza joint like this. Gourmet pizzas, sandwiches, pastas, breads, and the like are plentiful. I had the lunch special-- for $7 you can pick any sandwich, receive a side of potatoes, and get a soda fountain drink. This is a fantastic deal and one that you'll be hard-pressed to find this cheap in Baltimore. I Liked: Chicken Sandwich - The initial bite is chock-full of doughy heaven. The bread is baked in house and it really shows-- the crust is perfectly crisp without being tough to chew and the bread is light and airy. The sandwich had flavorful red peppers, tomato sauce, and marinated chicken. Every ingredient tasted fresh and was bursting with flavor. My one criticism would be that the chicken pieces are lined up on the edges of the sandwich-- this makes for great presentation but ultimately it also means that the middle of the sandwich is void of any chicken. Not a big deal, but worth noting. (You do not receive a breast or large piece of chicken, instead you get chunks of chicken, which is just fine). 5/5
Potatoes - The potato-wedge fries are delicious. They're crisp on the outside and soft on the inside; they don't feel too heavy from all the oil either. A generous slathering of garlic paste is evident and adds a ton of flavor-- though there may have been just a touch bit too much garlic. 4/5
I Disliked: Nothing so far! Insider Tips: Check out the lunch specials Chew gum after having the fries-- the garlic taste will never leave Customize your pizza if you don't want too many toppings and save money vs the $11 gourmet pizzas.
Pie In The Sky is a welcome addition to the Fells Point neighborhood and I wholly recommend it to anyone looking to try something new. Prices are reasonable, the food is fresh, and the service is spectacular. Best of...
Read moreNice little spot although the interior design is fricken awful. They’ve got a classy wall with ugly retro colorful tin tables that throw off the whole aesthetic I think they’re going for. They should stick with marble tables they had and maybe consider repainting the door frame a different color. As far as the food - it’s definitely as underwhelming as some of the comments pointed out, unless you’re getting pizza apparently. I ordered the portabella sandwich which was good but there was an extreme lack of mushrooms. It was all bread and maybe 8 spinach leaves and and a few thin sliced mushroom tops placed far apart to make you believe you have a lot until you open up the sandwich. My wife ordered the chicken Alfredo and let me tell you, it tasted like boiled water and butter with cardboard noodles. Not a lick of salt or seasoning. I had to use a half bottle of Parmesan to make it taste like anything. When my wife informed staff she was displeased they asked her what was wron, when she said it wasn’t saucy enough and not flavorful they told her they didn’t have Alfredo sauce -yet still offered it? So she asked what the white sauce they had on it was and the response was ‘well my boss tells me to make it like that’. Ok but what are you putting on the noodles if you don’t have Alfredo sauce that’s white?????? On the upside the music is cool and the chicken wings are ok. It would be great to have better service. When we walked in no one told us if we were to order at a bar, stand in line, or if we’d be helped by anyone. And as I’m writing this I’m waiting STILL for my beer I ordered twenty minutes ago. 😒
Update: got a calzone to replace the Alfredo and it wasn’t cooked thoroughly. Won’t be back any time soon. I’ll just come earlier to eat at better places. Overcharged for things that will inevitably end up in...
Read moreI’m very disappointed with the food we ordered for dinner this evening! My first experience was great and our Vegan Foods were delicious and amazing! My second time was wasn’t what I expected! I went on Uber Eats to order our Vegan Dinner for tonight! They had a buy 1, get 1 free special, so I ordered the Vegan Meatballs! On the picture that was posted there was about 7 or 8 Vegan Meatballs, but when my order was delivered I received (4) Vegan Meatballs x 2 orders was (8) Vegan Meatballs in total and not the amount that was in their picture on Uber Eats! They also made my Vegan House Salad wrong, I chose No Tomatoes and No Artichokes, I have a Tomato Allergy! So I couldn’t eat my salads I ordered also! I am very tired of restaurants saying it cost more to make “Plant Based” meals! Tofu, Pea Protein, Soy products don’t cost more then Beef, Pork,Chicken and Shrimp! I know how much it cost for Plant Based Foods like Shrimp, Chicken and Beef vs real meat! I know a place in Rockville that sells the same Vegan Wings andVegan Shrimp they do. But, don’t show me one thing and give me something else! False advertising or Bait and Switch! Either way it’s wrong! And, the Manager put me on hold and didn’t have the courtesy to ask me to hold on and he was very rude to me over the telephone and he said he care if I went on Google and all the other Social Medias! The you lady who answered the telephone was very polite and had good communication and customer service on the telephone! If you are going to do Vegan ! Do it right! Stop trying to Nickel and Dime our healthy lifestyle just to make a profit! Also, these Vegan Meatballs are over cooked and tough! Here’s the picture of what I saw saw on Uber Eats $15.35 and the second picture is...
