It’s fine. That’s it. Just fine. The general opinion in the neighborhood is really positive and supportive and I hope they do well but, it’s just not for us. We’ve been twice now, both times we carried out so we can’t really judge service & atmosphere but the food is really unremarkable, if not disappointing. The ingredients definitely tasted fresh for us, but that’s where it ends. They like to say “NY/NJ style bagels” and as someone who was born & raised in NJ before moving to Baltimore, I’m always looking for a good bagel. I can assure you, not once in my 32yrs of living in NJ did I ever have a bagel fall apart and essentially disintegrate after a bite into a sandwich. Make sure you have napkins. The pork roll was served as a single, nearly 1” slab, not all all cooked through. In NJ we will fight over whether it’s called Taylor ham or pork roll all day but we will collectively agree that it should never be sliced thicker than 1/4” and the sandwich I received is totally unacceptable and unappetizing. 0/10 do not want. The 40 Gold, pit beef with cheddar horseradish cream cheese, was nothing more than well done roast beef on a bagel. I think we may have gotten plain cream cheese on ours because I got no horseradish with it at all. Club Hon is just way too much on too small of a bagel. I like the concept but the entire thing fell apart within seconds of trying to eat it. It’s also too many flavor profiles at once; the smoke and old bay were fighting for dominance not highlighting each other. I didn’t take a pic but the sausage, egg, and cheese was the best of the bunch but generally pretty forgetful. I might give them a whirl if they ever make a cinnamon raisin bagel but over $50 for 4 breakfast sandwiches later, we’re good on Good...
Read moreGiven we don't have a ton of shops that specialize in bagels, I went into Good Boy Bagels with high expecations and unfortunately left with mixed feelings.
I love the premise of the bagel shop being dog themed and all of the pictures of dogs on the wall are so adorably cute. So I can definitely see this being a fan favorite for those with four legged friends. During my visit I stepped up to the counter to pondered a little over the menu but was never greeted by the young lady attending the counter. She just looked past me, which wasn't very welcoming. Once I told her good morning and that I was ready to order, she then spoke. I ordered a few items since the bagels were going to be breakfast that morning and then a quick breakfast while on vacation. I ordered a breakfast sandwich, three flavors of bagels, the honey old bay cream cheese, a brownie, and a matcha.
Now the matcha was delicious. I thoroughly enjoyed that and could see myself paying them another visit if I were in the area. The cream cheese was also very tasty. And there are no words to describe how good the brick of brownie was. Now the bagels were just mediocre to me. I wanted more flavor from the french toast bagel but it was kinda undesired. And I know a good bagel has a good chew to it, however, these were just a little too chewy in my opinion. My sausage and cheese bagel was ok, but I wasn't a fan of the sausage they use.
All in all a cute little spot if you're in the neighborhood. I just can't say I'd make a special trip for...
Read moreI really wanted to like this place, but it just does not live up to the excitement. We live in the neighborhood and we’re excited to have a quaint bagel shop within walking distance, however after going a few times now I don’t think we’ll return any time soon. The restaurant/atmosphere is great, the staff are okay but the food is really a disappointment. Each time we have been here, the bagels have been very poor. They seem stale, are very and to be blunt, just aren’t very good. I’ve tried several variations of them, some are overly salty (everything bagel) while others have almost no flavor (sesame). We even tried the sausage, egg and cheese, which had almost no flavor to it. I’m not from the northeast, and don’t have very high expectations like true NY/NJ bagels, but I’m sorry, these are no better than big box grocery store bought bagels. I really hope that they can improve, as the space is wonderful and has some great potential, but the food is really quite...
