I, along with 6 of my friends came to the Chasseur for Saturday brunch while staying in Baltimore for the 4th of July weekend. Thankfully we took an uber since there was no parking lot, or really anywhere to park at all. The restaurant has two main sections, upstairs and downstairs. My party wanted to dine upstairs that way we would have a small view of the city while we enjoyed our Saturday brunch. We arrived about 15 minutes before the place opened, and the downstairs server was kind enough to open the door and let us in just as the place was opening. The upstairs server did a pretty good job at taking care of all of our needs, lots of mimosas and bloody Mary's and a couple of beers to go around. The food was absolutely incredible, I would highly recommend getting the Brulé French toast. We had only one small problem and that was a piece of metal found in one of our dishes, we were disappointed the management didn't bother to take a percentage of the bill off or even comp the one meal. This place seems like it would be real fun after the sun goes down, I bet its a hot spot for young people to let off some steam after a hard day at work.

I had a disappointing experience at The Chasseur, largely due to the behavior of the bartender named John. During my visit, I tipped him $10 on my first drink, only to have him ask me to pressure my friends to do the same. This left a sour taste in my mouth. To make matters worse, towards the end of happy hour, John began charging my group for beers even though VOLO was supposed to cover the cost for another 40 minutes. It felt like a blatant attempt to take advantage of us. As if that wasn't bad enough, when I requested two waters to sober up at the end of the night, John handed me two ice water shots in shot glasses with a straw sticking out. It was a rude and unprofessional gesture. While he later offered a "free" shot as an apparent apology, it was clear that his behavior was unacceptable. In my opinion, John the bartender exhibited poor customer service and professionalism. He shouldn't be in a customer-facing position, and it negatively impacted my groups experience at The Chasseur. Despite living only a few short blocks away, we avoid The Chasseur over and over due to repeated poor behavior by the bartender.

Went for dinner on a Sunday night and the place was literally empty except for us. Side note - they won't serve items from the entree menu on Sunday.... The food we did get was pretty solid bar food. The mussels were definitely the table favorite - pretty big and came in a delicious sauce. The sauce for the mussels apparently rotates but if they're all as good as the one we had (Thai curry) I can't imagine you'd be disappointed. Winter fritters and fried green tomatoes were both pretty good. The Mac and cheese was really good as far as cheesiness, but didn't have a little crab in it. Burgers were good - especially the Chesapeake which had a pretty good sized crab cake on top. The duck fat tots were a bit disappointing - lacking in duck fat flavor and basically just boring tots.

I was there in the middle of a weekday. The place was almost empty, minus a few regulars. It was a warm day, so we wanted to check out the rooftop seating we had read about. You aren't really on a roof in the way you might think. It's a fully finished third floor with large garage doors that can open. The garage doors were closed when we went, which was a little disappointing, but the view was still great.

The food left something to be desired. Most items were twenty dollars and up, which I would have been OK with if the food was great, but most items were just OK. The nachos were smothered in cheap, canned nacho cheese, for example. The crushes were great, and I love that they served beer I pre chilled glasses.

The service was great. The staff are friendly, attentive, easy to talk to, and I could tell they had a rapport with the regulars.

The view on the top floor is great, but the music was horrible. Gouge my ears out, techno/dance remixes of songs from the 2010s. A lot of what they were playing was from my youth, but the remixes were horrible and loud. My wife and I would have stayed longer and had a few more beers, but we couldn't even think straight over a tove lo, dubstep remix. Im not even sure who the music was for. There were a few customers that came and went, no one seemed...

NEVER GOING THERE AGAIN! We reserved a table - in person - with the manager on 10/24/2020 for the upstairs for 6 people and when we got there on 11/1/2020 the OWNER said “sorry your table is downstairs” and when I said we definitely had a table upstairs he basically made it known that only his fiends have tables reserved there all season and it doesn’t matter if you made a reservation. Basically you have to be a hot girl and be willing to flirt with the owner (and who knows what else) to be able to go to the upstairs of the bar. Misogynistic! Taking advantage of women!

ADDED to Lauren's response: To Lauren@thechasseur.com the general manager. It is funny you say "you don't guarantee a table location" however, when I specifically asked for a reservation for a table upstairs you said "yes upstairs" and I asked again, so we have it for the upstairs right? and you again said yes. So, it is pretty clear that neither you nor the owner care about keeping your word. You only care about making sure the owner's friends can go up there, even when YOU promised me a table up there in person, in my face, and I have 3 other people that heard you say the same. DONT WORRY Lauren, I am not going back there, and neither are my friends. We will make sure everyone in Canton knowns what...
