Cannot possibly issue a stronger warning of caution to anyone considering ordering in advance from this place for an upcoming event. I began communicating with Manuel in December 2024, ahead of our April 2025 wedding, to order both a croquembouche (in lieu of a traditional wedding cake) and macarons as party favors. In Feb 2025 we completed our in-store tasting with Manuel and after final headcount was determined at the beginning of April we notified him via email and had multiple exchanges, back and forth, regarding our upcoming order. At no point in time did we ever attempt to negotiate the price of anything, we never made custom requests; we even asked to increase the number of macarons per box - making the total cost even higher than we had set out. Our back-and-forth email communications in early April got as into the weeds as the type of box and decoration for the macaroon party favors. On April 9 Manuel wrote "Could you go ahead and accept the estimate so we can move forward? Best would be to put us in contact with the wedding planner/organizer so we can handle logistics." This was the first time he had ever mentioned accepting an estimate. We promptly responded that very same day "I accepted the estimate so we can move ahead with things." and in that same email response we provided the contact info of our planner, as he had asked. We did not receive any further communication from Manuel or anyone at Sacre Sucre until, three days later on April 12 - exactly 2 weeks from our wedding - he wrote "I am writing to inform you that we have decided to cancel the invoice for your wedding croquembouche and macarons. Our previous communication indicated that the invoice was due by the end of business on April 12th to secure your date. As this deadline has passed without payment, we have unfortunately had to book another event for the same day." We were never asked to accept an estimate prior to April 9 - which, again, we did that very same day and told him we did so that same day - and we have NEVER been asked to make payment for this order and there was no communication whatsoever about an April 12 deadline for payment. Had we been aware, we would have happily and promptly provided payment Let's go ahead and assume user error - perhaps there were fields to complete after accepting the quote that we missed (we have no way to go back to validate this, but let's assume this was the case)...why on earth would Manuel/someone at Sacre Sucre not have reached out to notify us that only part of the process was complete (and we know it was successfully completed because we received an automated email confirming the estimate was accepted) and that in order to proceed they need to receive payment immediately? To this day, we have not received a single email, phone call, voicemail, or text message asking us to make payment (or providing the means to do so) or providing a deadline by which to make payment. After receiving Manuel's email notifying us that he canceled our order I responded immediately, asking to see the supposed communication referenced about making payment/a supposed April 12 due date and how they're going to remedy the situation. I then called the store to try to figure out what happened and how to fix it and they said Manuel was not available and they would not provide his phone number. I have yet to receive a call or email back from anyone at Sacre Sucre. Exactly 2 weeks before our wedding Sacre Sucre has left us high and dry with no dessert and no gifts for our guests. I cannot urge you strongly enough to avoid placing orders in advance with this place - they're both inconsiderate and...
Read moreI was so looking forward to having another small business coffee shop in the neighborhood. The coffee is the best in Fells Point imo. I love that they have so many creative pastries to try and so many macaroon flavors, although the texture of the macaroon was a bit off/chewy the flavor was awesome! They would make a great gift and I’m so happy to have this type of item available so close to me. I also tried the soft serve and it was amazing! Also, A+ on aesthetic.
I gave less than 5 stars because there were subtleties that made me feel unwelcome and that draw a stark contrast to every other coffee shop in the area-in a bad way. I hesitate to return.
Coffee shops, especially in the Fells point area, are highly accepting of people bringing their lap tops for the WFH culture (+ all the students in this area of the city) that is so prevalent in the new post 2020 era. sadly, there are small signs on each table that say there is a two hour max limit to sitting at the tables in this coffee shop. This makes me feel rushed in general-WFH or not. A coffee shop is supposed to be a place to relax, but these numerous signs make me feel like I have to watch the clock instead. Is this a restaurant on NYE or a local coffee shop?! Admittedly, a high percentage of my monthly spending is at coffee shops specifically because I am there to do my work and spend longer periods of time. These signs feel hostile. If I can’t do my work there, and if the business is not welcoming to the realities of this era, then I could easily just save money and make great coffee at home for a fraction of the cost… or go to one of the other 5 coffee shops in this area that have the opposite attitude and great products. In addition to the signs, the view that people shouldn’t relax there for these types of extended periods was verbally expressed by the owner. Disappointed:/. IMO this makes the business not competitive in the area.
Aside from that, I caught a bit of a thinly veiled sassy attitude, which isn’t something I’d choose to deal with in my free time. However, this alone would not turn me off from giving it another go if everything else was great. But the “2 hour limit” signs on the table, which remind me of one of those dauntingly inconvenient parking signs in the city that triggers parking ticket ptsd a bit are a definite deterrent. Hopefully their views change and they are more willing to accommodate the culture of this area.
Edit went back 1 week later and staff Was super kind. Macaroon (rose) was the perfect...
Read moreAbsolutely incredible. The artistry alone will leave your mouth open or smiling. The individual that said they were the main person making everything seemed very serious and aloof (probably just incredibly busy), but they managed to crack a small smile when I exclaimed “give these things a Netflix special, they’re amazing!”
Everything we ordered was not only visually stunning, but also PERFECTLY balanced in texture and flavor. You can tell that they planned each bite from beginning to end through the fig pastry. It was crisp, buttery, filled with fresh gif flavor and a lasting sweetness from the house-made fig blend and cream. Prices are VERY reasonable if you consider the amount of time and skill required to make these little pieces of art!
The coffee and tea are cutely made in the back by a small espresso bar. I was admittedly a little less impressed by the cold brew I received, but it was an incredibly hot baltimore summer day, which can effect the brewing process. It still paired perfectly with the artistic desserts that could bring a smile to anyone’s face.
We will absolutely be back! For more pastries and to browse the small selection of artisan teas and coffees they sell from other roasteries and brands. NOTE: there is very limited indoor seating. A small shop helps maintain quality control, but be prepared to have to take your...
