What a bad experience at every level. It was miserable working with this office. First, the front office staff is terrible. They have 5 plus people there and yet I had issues with billing every time I visited. I would hand them information on my insurance, remind them of changes when I had them, be told that it would be taken care of and then receive bills later. I had to say everything to them several times. When I called to help resolve issues, I was again told things would be taken care of and they were not. On my last visit, I was told I could not see the dentist because of an outstanding bill that I had already had 3 conversations where I was told that it would be resolved. They kept zero records of the conversations, didn't update any of my information and then the dentist told me that they had fired the person that had worked on it (how is that my issue?) and that I needed to work with my insurance to do their basic job of billing. Classy move to have this conversation loudly in the lobby of the office, embarrassing your patrons as though they don't pay bills is a despicable practice. This was also an ambush as I received what felt like 10 appointment reminders where this billing issue was not mentioned. Unbelievable that I had to take time off, take medication and then not be helped. After leaving, I called the insurance provider and it took 5 minutes to fix...they could not tell me why Fell's Point Dental could not do basic front office work. The insurance company did not understand why there was even an issue in the first place. I 100% ensured Fells Point Dental were paid for that appointment, this negative review is not about a money disagreement.

Second, the Hygienists are very young and inexperienced. The first person I had made it very difficult to communicate that things hurt or that I would like things done a certain way. This was after I had communicated to the dentist that I have anxiety about the dentist and that I would need accommodations for things like my gag reflex. I developed more dread in going to this dentist and they were clearly more interested in rushing me out. This is the first dentist office where I had to take medication to go in and I have been going to the dentist for several decades.

Fells Point Dental is truly one of a kind. The office space is gorgeous, clean and comfortable. The new patient intake process was seamless, efficient and thorough. They have taken the recommended safety precautions for COVID and have provided a check in process that is still efficient and helpful. Since I recently established care, I have been 3-4 times for some work, and each time the administrative team has always greeted me with kindness and a “smile” during the check-in, which I am not even sure they fully understand how much that makes my appointments feel more comfortable and help me relax. They are so helpful with payments, next steps, and insurance inquiries.

I offer my highest praise to Fells Point Dental’s leadership. It is evident that this practice and its providers are aligned in their values concerning patient care, professionalism, comfort and really exceptional work. I had a pretty traumatic and difficult dental history and in taking the steps to address the dental care I’ve needed, Fells Point Dental has been so incredibly helpful and supportive in those steps. I have the pleasure of receiving care from Dr. Grooms, Barry and Amanda. Dr. Grooms is incredible. She is so kind and patient. She not only fully listens to my concerns/questions each time but takes the time to help me understand her recommendations and next steps. The procedures are difficult for me because of my anxiety and she is so gentle, patient and kind throughout the whole appt. Barry has also been such a pleasure to work with. His warm presence and assuring voice really compliments Dr. Grooms’ care. Amanda worked with me for my cleanings and was so kind and patient, as I was really struggling, given the condition my teeth were in. I could go on and one, but I truly just couldn’t have asked for a better team of professionals to take care of me and I am so grateful.

I came as a new patient about a month ago and my dentist is Dr. Grooms. She did her initial evaluation on me and I could just tell something was different. She really took the time to look at my teeth and explain things about them to me. She identified three cavities to be filled. After my fillings were done I start experiencing some pain. Dr. G made time to see me as soon as possible and she readjusted my bite. Unfortunately I still was experiencing pain and I returned and she readjusted it again, but the pain returned. Now today on my third visit we tried adjusting it again but it’s just felt like something was wrong. Dr. grooms is one of the most empathetic and patient humans I’ve ever met. I really felt like she was taking in and listening and considering everything that I said and after some back-and-forth deliberation she decided to ask another dentist, Dr. Anderson, to take a look at everything. I think it really speaks to her professionalism, her confidence and her empathy that she would have someone else come in. I really felt like she too wanted to figure out what was really going on, when all conventional causes were not panning out. Dr. Anderson was able to discern the unconventional cause of my problem and I am so relieved to have an answer but I’m more relieved to have a dentist who cares enough to really get to the root of the issue no matter what it takes. She was not gonna let me leave today without an answer and I cannot thank Dr. G enough for her time and her determination. If you’re fortunate enough to live in the area and need a dentist or are looking to move to a practice where everyone not just Dr. G are so kind and friendly that it actually makes me look forward to dental visits then look no further!
