BJ's Wholesale Club — Restaurant in Bangor

I love BJ's in Bangor, Maine. The store is impeccably kept and well organized. They always have plenty of stock and they lower their already low prices on things that are on final sales. They have a great selection too. The gas station alone is worthy of your patronage. If you have their credit card, you save a minimum of 10 cents per gallon (their base price is the same as Sam's club) They are currently running a special in conjunction with Proctor & Gamble products that allows you to save up to a total of 35 cents off their gas. I paid $1.79 per gallon the other day! The attendants are very helpful and friendly. More importantly, they are attentive to safety, something I consider to be paramount. They are polite but firm in their enforcement of safety. Regards their credit . . I got a shock the other day when I had a call from the fraud dept of Comenity Bank. I had upgraded my credit card to their premium card and apparently someone had the information on my card . . they were in London, England. The fraud department caught the charges, all of them, and denied them. I was a little irritated that the initial part of the call was automated and anticipated a long wait to talk to a person. I was so wrong. Within 10 minutes, mostly spent listening and re-listening to details of the call which was my option, I was talking to a person! Amazing! The lady on the phone set me at ease almost immediately . . we worked out the details over the next half hour or so, she was very helpful and made no attempt to rush our interaction. She resolved all my issues, answered all my questions and started the process of re-issue for my card. I was extremely impressed! I would recommend Comenity to anyone looking for a credit account. On Friday, I placed a curbside order for Sunday morning at 0900. I arrived at 0858 because the app stated my order was ready, and I checked in. At 0912, my order still wasn't at my vehicle, so I entered the store. When I went to customer service to notify them that I had been waiting over 10 minutes after checking in, the young girl working the desk proceeded to announce my name over the walkie to let whoever know I was ready. There was no apology at the time. I was told that they had one person working in that department and that's why now 18 minutes had passed after arriving without my order. The older woman who was at the desk logged into the zebra and stated, "And yes, she checked in," almost like I wasn't being truthful.

The older woman asked if I wanted her to bring it to my vehicle, to which I declined as I had already come into the store. At that point I requested to cancel my membership. At no time was an apology provided, just an excuse that they were short staffed. The cashier canceled my membership and gave me a refund for the remaining months and then apologized and again stated that it was because they were short staffed. I then stated that maybe they shouldn't text a customer that the order is ready if it wasn't. The girl started to become agitated, so the interaction was terminated by me. After waiting almost 25 minutes, I finally got my order and could leave.

It would have been quicker for me to just do the shopping without doing a curbside. Due to the lack of professionalism demonstrated by the employees at the Bangor location, neither myself nor my family will shop there again. Customer service goes a long way to...

Good and bad!

Good: Store is clean , people are friendly and helpful For most part . Store is never super busy . Coupons are great , ok selection of stuff and prices are good on some things .

The bad: Every person that walks out the door is treated like a thief and criminal . You MUST show receipt but most degrading part is they will go through your cart searching through your stuff and count the items that you have already bought payed for and own. Also when your at check out sometimes you feel like your being watched over by a flock of hawks and keeping a eye on you again as if your a thief . When you need actual help sometimes it can take a minute .So if this doesn’t sound like something your comfortable with do not get a membership here .

Also gas station is only open during store hours it is not a 24/7 gas station where you can use debit /credit card and still get gas after Store hours like most...
