I like subs a lot, and never having been to a Firehouse Subs before, decided to give it a try. We walk in at around 1:30 and there is one customer at a table eating and thatās it. We look over the menu and as sort of a standard test for any sub place, we order an Italian and a hero (like most clubs at sub shops) and a birthday cake cookie. Now, I donāt know how they store their meat and veggies, because the making of the sub was all done behind a high wooden counter so you couldnāt see your sub being made, but what a mess of a sandwich. First off, you open your sub box - very cute - and it looks like they used a confetti gun filled with lettuce - shredded iceberg lettuce in the sub, on the sub, under the sub and completely covering the inside of the box. Both subs, same way. But hereās the weirdest thing Iāve ever seen for sub meat - the only way I can think to describe it is they put the meat on the sub without āunrollingā it. You know how you have those nice thin slices of deli meat - itās like they roll them up for storage purposes and speed, and when they put them on the sub theyāre supposed to unroll them and make them flat, but they didnāt bother. So we essentially ended up with a hot dog of deli meat. My sandwich eating experience went like this - take a bite, meat shoots out the back end and you get a mouthful of bread. Try from the other side and meat shoots out the other side, you get a mouthful of bread with a little bit of meat. Rest of sub eaten while holding your hot dog deli meat stick in place with your fingers so that you canāt possibly get your hands messier. The bread/meat combination was āwetā, man I canāt figure it out, and I donāt know if it was the honey ham in the subs or what, but both subs tasted sweet. Gross sweet. Like we couldnāt finish 8 inch subs sweet. They were bad. We ended up going to get KFC. As for the birthday cake cookie we ordered, they didnāt include it in our bag - which we didnāt discover until we were on the other side of town. Thanks! That sure was the topper to an utterly disappointing visit. Keep the buck fifty, never...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSo the place was not busy. It took a long time to get our sandwiches. I dont know who the chef is but I dont really like the whole steam everything. I will have to try a different sandwich. I ordered the italian. Some of the build is correct and I have been working in restaurants all my life and it doesnt take a rocket scientist to make a sandwich. Whoever thinks that honey ham is a good choice for a build on an italian sandwich just doesnt know what Italian is. Unfortunately, I didnt see that at first on the board but I knew it from the first bite. Italian sandwiches are supposed to taste hot and spicy. Even a bit greasy with the fat from the salami. Not sweet flavor from honey ham. It almost made me sick. I choked it down because I had paid $13 bucks for the sandwich and i was hungry. I think someone needs go back to the drawing board and revise thier recipe at least for this sandwich. I wasnt pleased at all. I have to do more research about the business and the owners and really see the whole truth about the marketing . I was a firefighter for many years. I like the place.I dont like theme oriented businesses, or ones that use a gimmick to draw attention. I will try other sandwiches. but they should be using regular ham or capicolla or pepperoni in an italian sandwich. Since when do they have Virginia ham in Italy ? ...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI really enjoy Fire house subs, I went in and ordered a Lg Italian - there was one person in line ahead of me. I was on a hr lunch brake and went straight over to order there - I kept an eye on the time and waited... after I ordered my one sub - I stepped aside and waited - 27 minutes- the crew was not organized and door dash had them in the weeds - where walk ins had to wait 30- minutes plus for a sub. I asked what my ETA was - lady had to find my ticket said another 10 minutes- yeah no i was not waiting 37 minutes for one sub- I got a refund and walked out - politely- went to hanaford instead bought lunch there. I donāt dare do door dash again from here - because I ordered once with co workers from there Bangor location and my md meatball sub had a piece of reddish hair in it. So unfortunately - I just chucked my sub - then decided to give this location another shot, two months later. I would not recommend coming here on a hr lunch break unless you call your sub in a hour before hand. When I got back to office and told my co workers - they shared similar experiences- wait is always ways to long there - sorry - older gentleman with glasses he seemed to only know what was going on - He tentatively try to expedite the line but unfortunately the crewmembers were just way to much...
