Lacks any real flavor outside of the fresh seafood which is on avg I would say 2-4 days old imo. Perhaps if they acquainted themselves with a spice rack their offering would rally to something other than unremarkable. The batter guy is right by the window, using water colored with 8 hour old flour wash he batters everything to order including the onion rings. ProTip: The reason the crunchy part of the onion ring flakes off and falls off making it just onion is they should be dipped and left to sit/dry at least 5 better 10m before frying so the batter actually sticks... the water base, the choice of breading (which makes everything look dull off white) and their complete lack of seasoning... (heck put a sprinkle of old bay on at least!) makes this place merely a stop for the older locals and people from away that do not know any better. ALSO THEY APPEAR TO BE BUYING REVIEWS LOOK AT THE TWO DIFFERENT GUIDES WITH THE SAME EXACT...

Lobster roll is excellent, top loader is small, but lobster packed in it is huge. Lightly caressed with mayo, perfectly steamed lobster claws and knuckles.

haddock was way to battered. The crust is tough. I would hope the store would alter their batter to include either cake flour or even better is a 50/50 mix of unbleached flour and corn starch, add some baking powder, an egg, and a nutty brown beer, a touch of salt and you have a GREAT crunchy and light batter.

Slaw is fresh but WAY too much mayo. might be a regional thing, but not to my liking. Fries were hot and fresh.

If you go definitely get the lobster roll. Their fish market is filled with faves of mine. Live and steamed lobster, swordfish, tuna, fresh haddock, clams, etc. Going back today for a couple of pieces of the swordfish. It was...

First time having lobster! While I can't say I particularly liked it, I don't dislike it. There was a good amount of locals about, and everyone seemed to be enjoying their meal. The young lady who took my order, actually came out to show me how to crack it and walked me thru the general eating of said lobster. The place was popping. Maybe 10-15 minutes for my food? And I think it only took that long cause I ordered the whole lobster. It's definitely got an outdoor picnic vibe to it. Makes me think vacation or family gathering. Pricing looked fair for the food. Average price was between 12-23$ per entree/dish. Most came with fries with other options too. I really enjoyed my sweet potato fries. Coleslaw was very meh. It probably needed both more mayo, and salt and pepper. It needed something to help it's...

Feel like wasting eight bucks? Then order McLaughlin's chicken burger. When you hear "chicken burger," what do you think? I think of a nice slab of chicken on a bun with some mayo, lettuce, tomato, onion, and maybe a pickle. Instead, I was presented with this (see attached) pathetic excuse for a "burger" that I didn't even eat and fed to my dogs. This looks like something a second-rate high school cafeteria would feed to poor students. It was just a bun with absolutely nothing on it except for this ridiculous excuse for "chicken." I can't believe the place has the audacity to charge eight dollars for this disaster. How dare they call it a burger! It's been almost a month since my visit yet I'm still upset about it. It didn't even come with any sides. What a scam!

First good experience...this Cardinal! I was on the phone in the parking lot talking to my friend. The Cardinal flew on the hood of my car, and then my side mirror. He sat and looked for a few seconds. I've never been that close. I shared my experience at the counter. Apparently, he is a regular. I wasn't as special as I'd hoped. With that said, the woman at the counter was extremely helpful and patient with my many questions. I was shipping fresh lobster to Virginia. I normally order through Goldbelly. I never will again. The price was definitely better. I moved away from Maine a few years ago. This place is EXACTLY why I'm back. I plan on making it a regular stop. The customer service is the icing on the cake!

We just left PEI where we ate lobster, mussels and oysters every single day for about 3 weeks. Heading home now, coming down the eastern seaboard for a little ways before we head over to the middle of the country where there is no fresh seafood and we just aren't ready to quit. We have an overnight in Bangor, so we looked for a seafood shack and found one just a few miles from our hotel - McLaughlins! We were pleased to find this place loaded with people both on vacation and locals chowing down on all manner of seafood. We had crab rolls and fried clams and French fries. Pretty darn good and great prices, to boot. Dog friendly with nice gals serving up the grub, too. Too bad they won't be open for breakfast.
