I have not done a review before but here it is. During the day i went and had a great time getting to meet new people, even another travel health care worker(nurse). The bartender during the day was nice, I even meet her mom as she was sitting next to me having a great time. I had a bacon blue burger it was great and i also took my friend that was at home a burger too, she love it. After i dropped her food off i wanted to go back so i did. When i got back to the bar to have a drink, there were 3 new bartenders there. The young lady that served me my food earlier was gone, cool the new bartenders didn’t know me but i had every intention on getting to know them, so i get myself a pitcher of beer and a seat next to the pool area alone. Im a really friendly person so i meet a few people like i did earlier, everything is going good and i buy them some drinks and even share my spinach dip which was awesome! Over time the people i met ended up leaving, i stayed and went and sat at the bar. People were talking to me that had recognized me from earlier and I’m talking to them having a great time. I get another pitcher of beer for myself and i dont get drunk because i want to know what's going on around me and be aware of my surroundings. I’m on FaceTime with my female friend and a male friend and telling them how i like it here and the people are so friendly just like me the (older folks ). As im talking to my friends a male and female walk up to order at the bar. Cool i talked to the female a little and then she told me her friend, who i thought was a male was really a girl. I’m like wow you would never know so i say to him you look great. For some reason the female manager at bar, says to me you can't say that in here you made Jocelyn or (unsure of his name) uncomfortable. Now I'm genuinely confused cause I live the same lifestyle I'm bisexual. I never meant to offend anyone even though I appear like a typical man if you get what I'm saying I'm not. So the manager continues to talk to me and she is obviously upset now and I'm trying to tell her I'm in the same situation i would never offend anyone intentionally. She does not listen to me she, she ends up calling security guards on me, and now I'm explaining to her that I never meant to offend anyone. His friend is the one that told me that he is a girl, i would have never known otherwise, and i love people, all people. She didn't care. I tried to move past this situation and said well can I just get me another drink? She said no you can't get another drink you have to leave now, and I was really confused as to what was going on and what had just happened. I was getting kicked out for what i thought was a compliment. This misunderstanding had really ruined my night and hurt my feelings, bad real bad I've never been in this type of situation ever! So I asked if I can speak to the owner and the manager came outside and continued to have the same attitude with me for no reason, even though I'm talking nice and calmly overall. I start to feel like it was the way I looked and because I presented myself as a straight man even though I'm not. I just hope and wish that next time the manager can think clear and not get so upset for no reason. The person i gave a compliment to didn't seem upset so why was she so upset? I truly hope it's not because I'm a black man that looks straight. I should be able to give a compliment to somebody else that lives in my same lifestyle like i have always done for years, with no issue i have never been through this ever in life, and it hurts that people can be that way when i love helping and taking...
Read moreWent in at 5:15pm on a Sunday night before a concert at the opera house, so it was not busy. I am used to a good dive bar, so was not uncomfortable, but could see how some people might be put off by the interior. The music was incredibly loud, my mother had to turn down her hearing aids, but we could not even speak to each other without shouting across the table, so talking could not happen anyway. We ordered poutine, bruschetta, fried pickles, coconut shrimp and my mom got the french onion soup. It took 40 minutes to get our food and when it arrived the waitress told us that they were out of the shrimp and would we like to order something else and brought a menu back. She never came back AT ALL until we had to flag her down another 40 minutes later to get the bill so we could get to the concert. Drinks (water and Sprite) were empty and had been for half of the meal, but she never returned. Poutine- I asked the server what “truck driver gravy” is and she said it was a dark, beefy gravy. Super! Nope—-it was more like a minimal amount of turkey gravy, with melted grated cheese on top. Poutine has cheese curds, this did not. It was cheesy fries with a little but of gravy, but it did not taste bad, so at least there is that. Bruschetta- it was soggy pieces of thin bread with a half inch thick slice of mozzarella on top with some sort of tomato chunks on top. Not a bit of basil in sight. We each took one bite and couldn't eat it. It was disgusting, and nothing like bruschetta. Pickles- huge portion, very salty (and I love salt!) but it was too much salt even for me. French onion soup- was lukewarm with 2 slices of lukewarm cheese on top. I wanted my mom to send it back because it wasn't even remotely hot, but she refused because it had taken so long to get in the first place. When food is not kept and served at the appropriate temperatures, that is how people get sick, and sure enough, my mother was sick within an hour, and for two days after eating there. It was disappointing, because I really wanted to like this place, but the service was terrible and the food was just as bad. Halfway through our meal, the music stops and some guy says “Okay! I would like to call this meeting to order!” and then they proceeded to start some kind of sports meeting (they were talking about referees). A patron brought in two children with him that could not have been but about 8 and 10 years old, and then he was served beer. For an establishment that says in their reviews that they must follow strict guidelines for serving alcohol, it just seemed to be a poor choice to serve the only driver of two young children, let alone have two young children in a bar of this type, where food is definitely not the main reason people go there. I think that this place has the potential to do better and hope that they make a...
