If you have young children, you may want to reconsider going to another local brewery. Their "policy", according to staff members, is that they must remain seated with an adult at all times. However, it only states online that children must be accompanied by an adult. NOWHERE does it say on the website that they must be seated "at all times". They have a whimsical little sign above the bathrooms (Barrington location) that says they must be seated with an adult, no kid tables. These contradict one another. I understand that some people let their kids just run around and that can be a disturbance to other patrons, but you cannot expect children to just stay seated at a table for long periods of time. It's not realistic. I was told, after almost 3 hours of already being there, that my children needed to be seated with an adult at all times. When my children were not seated at the table, they were playing nicely on the side patio, not in anyone's way, and always had an adult with them or watching them from the table which was right next to the patio. They were NEVER running around inside. The staff gave us a hard time when I challenged them on what the policy says online. They had zero backbone. Just gave attitude and were unprofessional. When we said that dogs were allowed, the staff member said, "Are your kids on a leash"? I nearly lost it. If there is a real issue with them having children there, then it may be best to make this a 21 and older establishment. My husband, children, and friends have been to countless local breweries and wineries and have never encountered this issue. They have all been very inclusive. Tonewood does not share that same sentiment. Huge disappointment. It's a shame because their beer is really...

Tonewood Brewing Taproom is a true gem nestled within the charming Barrington, New Jersey community. Housed in a beautifully renovated 1960s lumber yard, this taproom seamlessly blends modernity with history to create an unparalleled craft beer tasting experience.

Despite being their second location, the attention to detail and commitment to excellence are evident in every aspect of the space. One of the highlights of my visit was the expansive outdoor seating area, providing the perfect setting to enjoy a cold brew amidst the beauty of nature. And speaking of brews, Tonewood Brewing offers a diverse selection of top-notch craft beers that cater to every palate. Each sip is a testament to the skill and passion of the brewers behind the scenes.

Tonewood brewery in Barrington is the second and largest location of the Tonewood brewery that originally started with the first location in Oaklyn NJ. Formerly location was a lumber yard warehouse where they sold expensive essences of fine wood such as walnut, cherrywood, mahogany, oakwood and such for builders and craftsman or carpenter that took expensive orders for cabinetry, furniture, real wood board for flooring etc, hence Tonewood came out with one lager beer called Lumber Yard. The place is huge and pretty busy, cute thing is that dogs are allowed in. Stopped there last night and enjoyed beers and chatted with friends and family. Had Mas Fuego, Freshies, Mosaic IPA, Stratacaster to mention a few and these were very tasty and flavorful just as the others I'll try next that my buddies had. Well stop by and enjoy some awesome beers on the tap, and also you can bring your own food...

Awesome second location for Tonewood! The original location in Oaklyn is just as nice just not nearly as large. The large brewery hall has plenty of seating for large and small groups with standing room tables and regular table seating. There is a second floor with additional seating that overlooks the brewing tanks and equipment. There is also a large back patio area that was set up for outdoor games. The beer they offer are a large variety of IPA’s, double IPA’s, and lagers. The soft focus was my drink of choice which was a lot like an allagash. The bartenders were very nice and helpful to find a beer that best suits your palate. They don’t offer food unless there’s a food truck for an event but there is plenty of options nearby in walking distance or that will deliver to the brewery. They are also dog friendly! Definitely recommend either location for a night out..

Large dog and kid friendly brewery. I had a few of their beers at other places and decided to HH here. It's large and open with plenty of seating and even an observation style area that you can watch them work from. I had several of their beers and they were honestly all good. Other than the Fuego, they were on the lighter side in terms of flavor. Really good beers to drink on these abnormally hot days. My complaint is that the purposely don't serve 5oz tasters cause you can't get the essence of the beer. Too much essence of beer can lead to a DUI at best. I ordered several HH pints but had them pour 10oz. I had to drink twice as much water to keep myself legal. No food, bring in your own like several others did.
