To whom it may concern, My husband and I visited El Maguey this evening for dinner. Upon eating, he noticed a sharp object against his gum and realized it was plastic that was in his food. He shared this with our server and he proceeded to get the manager and took the piece of plastic to the kitchen. The manager came over and insisted on how this piece of plastic couldn't have gotten into our food and not once apologized or understood how big of a concern this was. Imagine this doing serious damage to a person's teeth/gums or choking on this object. We proceed to get the check and notice that we have received a $3 military discount on my meal. We were really taken back by this $3 discount considering he had a sharp piece of plastic in his meal. We requested to speak with the manager. At minimum, we would have thought his meal would have been comp'd and we would have still paid for mine. In all honesty, I felt that our whole meal would be comp'd but boy was I wrong. I shared this with the manager, and he became extremely defensive/rude and insisted that my husband should have told him what I wanted. My husband and I are appalled by our experience with this server and manager. We understand accidents happen, but how you handle them and treat your customers is what ultimately matters. Our server's name was Adiel. We asked the server what his manager's name was, and he said Jose as he laughed and walked away. I highly doubt this is the manager's actual name. I am hopeful the community of Bartlesville will not have to deal with this going forward. I hope El Maguey in Bartlesville, Ok will make this right. This leaves an extremely bad taste in my husband and I's mouth and is a terrible reputation to have spread around in a...
Read moreWe recently dropped in to El Maguey for dinner while in B'ville. Seating was immediate, and the place was nicely decked out. Menus and drinks were had very quickly, and we set about making our choices. As always, I opted for the Chili Verde. The Boy, ever predictable, had a Chicken Quesadilla. The Wife had Pork Carnitas street tacos, The Daughter had the Carnitas Dinner, while The Kid went with basic beef Nachos. For some reason, we skipped the de riguer order of Queso. Food arrived in short order, and looked pretty good all around. If only it had tasted as good as it looked. The general consensus from The Wife and The Daughter was their pork was bland and dry. My Chili Verde dish was nothing more than a serving of dry, bland pork covered with a green sauce. That's NOT Chili Verde. The Kid's beef nachos were pretty good, but honestly, how do you screw up ground beef and cheese on chips? The Son's Quesadilla was, in his words 'Okay, but not great'. I tasted everything, just for review purposes, and I will say this... it's my opinion that the kitchen has a big steam pan full of shredded pork that's generically seasoned and just tossed on a plate and sauced accordingly whenever it's ordered. That means a lazy kitchen and cooks who don't care about quality. The carnitas were NOT carnitas. There was no hint of a citrus flavor like there should have been. And the Chili Verde, which should have been slow stewed until the pork chunks just fell apart was anything but. Overall, the meal didn't suck, but it was far from being good. Given the drive, it's not likely we'll return on purpose, and given the lack of care for food quality and flavor, it's not likely we'll ever be back even in we're driving down the street in front...
Read moreMy two boys went there for lunch on Saturday around 11:30 to noon. Once we started to order from the lunch menu we were informed that lunch was not served on Saturdays... Disappointing but ok. We ordered the same dishes from the dinner menu. My oldest got the nachos, my youngest got a chicken and beef burrito plate and I got what they called the monster burrito. All our dishes came with this bland white cheese sauce poured over the food. It was cheese like any other Mexican restaurant except it was obviously watered down, very thin and bland. My burrito was very poor too. Mostly rice and very little meat. It looked as sad as it tasted. The nachos were sad too. Again it was the cheese sauce that ruined it. Sparse on topping. The waitress was friendly and took care of us just enough to not be looked for. After paying for our meal and tipping the waitress we left. Ill never go back there again. There are way better places closer too me. I never complain about food and i dont send food back. I just wont go...
