Really wanted to like this place since as a resident, I enjoy supporting Batavia restaurants. This place just didn’t get it done because the service was so bad.
Got seated in the bar which was fine since they were busy; had no issues with that since we had a reservation and they could seat us right away. The problem was our server just wasn’t very good. Ordered a simple shrimp cocktail, she brought it out 15 mins later in a puddle of melted ice and had clearly let it sit in the back ready to go for too long. When she took our order she didn’t write anything down which is fine since it was only 2 people, but you gotta get the order right. Brought out chicken piccata instead of veal piccata. It got fixed, but since a food runner brought out the food, I had to flag down our server since she never came by to check on us the entire night. It was confusing, too, since although it was a busy Saturday, I counted her tables, it was manageable if done better with some effort. She had the time to do so, it was almost like she was afraid to stop by.
We also learned about specials from the bar tender taking care of the table next to us by overhearing them offered AFTER we already ordered our dinners. Our server didn’t even mention they had specials. Probably should have asked that bartender for some drink refills, too, since it was evident our server wasn’t going to ask if we wanted any of those
The bus staff was just brutal, the girl had to have walked past our table 6-7 times but NEVER took any plates or anything. Not sure if we scared her off early on, but she went to take our menus before we placed our entree orders and we just simply l told her we hadn’t placed our order yet and she proceeded to look at us worried, dropped our menus, but then also left used menus from another table she picked up on our table, so a high-top of 2 people now had 4 menus on it from another table…what? Never picked up any plates or bread basket the rest of the night until we were waiting for our check. She took a plate in each hand and she left all our dirty silverware during that trip to the table and never came back again, so we had that going for us.
The food was terrific, I must say. Aside from what seemed like inexperienced or untrained staff, it was good. Just get some training for the younger staff. Both my girl and I have each worked in restaurants and you just gotta want to serve people and give them a good experience to be successful. Have someone watching how these younger staff do their jobs and give them the pointers would probably...
Read moreI will admit; I almost gave this restaurant 0 stars. The 2 people that saved my experience was the bartender & my waitress, Enza! I almost walked out. Our rvsp was at 7. I fully understand restaurants are busy but common courtesy is to atleast acknowledge a guest. Everyone avoided us & everyone for that matter who were waiting. Finally, I stop the guy who was getting tables & he barely paid any attention to me & completely blew me off. Finally my friend got his attention & blew us off & Said 10 min. He never came back. Finally at 740; we made our way to get a glass of wine. The lady wasn't nice to us. In addition; she wasn't nice to the couple after us. I was regretting that I picked this place for a night out. Finally 3rd interaction was an OUTSTANDING bartender. He DID pay attention to us & made sure we were sat. Yes, it was 40 min after our rvsp but we were thankful someone finally acknowledged us. Our waitress was Enza! She was wonderful. She was so sweet & her service was outstanding! I kept an open mind & the whole experience. Enza made us laugh.
My pasta was VERY good. The baked pasta was done on a skillet & the sausage was full of flavor. I could have passed the tiramisu. It was just ok.
I probably will return, however it will not be on a Saturday. I've seen busy restaurants but this one was extremely unorganized. Just acknowledging a customer goes a LONG way. But repeatedly being ignored & the way our rvsp was handled was 1 of the worst experiences I have ever had at...
Read moreThis is for their new location since they moved out of Batavia town. It’s a nice enough place with a contemporary feel not very cozy though more of a wide open space. Food is pricey and decent but not amazing or worth the prices they are charging to me at least. We ordered a half dozen baked clams which were good and would order again. We also ordered an artichoke heart appetizer and was just way too cheesy and too rich for both my friend and I and wouldn’t order again. I ordered a salmon dish which was topped with panko bread crumbs and some mashed potatoes and green beans….was good but again not amazing and not worth $29 I could have cooked similar for $10. I don’t think we would go back because spent over $100 and really nothing blew us away and still burping up garlic at 3am. Seems like garlic was used a bit much in all the dishes which can be heavy on your palette and stomach. Maybe a good place for a glass of wine and an appetizer or pizza and salad I remember their salads being nice at their other location. I would say 7.1 out of 10 rating. Order carefully because bill adds up and then may feel not worth what you just spent. Service was good not amazing, but everyone was kind enough but I think 3 out of 5 is fair and accurate rating across the board. I also think we just ordered wrong….should have not ordered the artichoke cheesy appetizer which wasn’t for us and far too heavy and had a salad instead….and maybe...
